40 Selena (1/2)
As a result of completing his Quest with Rarsu, Gray also received another system notification saying that he has leveled up, contributed by the massive Experience reward of 3,000.
As per usual, the Elf spends his two attribute points in Intelligence, a point in Willpower and the rest for reserved in case a situation arises that might need one of his Attributes to be increased dramatically.
He also recollects about acquiring a new skill back at the ritual earlier, something about Souls. He could only take a short glimpse of the system notification before passing out from the intense pain.
Opening his SKILL UI, Gray saw the new skill in the list that is called .
”Wow.” Gray's eyes widen in a pleasant surprise. ”I wonder what this skill does?”
Clicking the skill, the description immediately shows for him to read.
(Passive) – Your untainted soul embodies the resilience of the heroes of the old, an individual coming from another world. As such, you gain 500 times the rate of soul regeneration, allowing you to shrug off attacks that are meant to hurt the soul. You are also completely immune to any abilities that defile and control your soul.
Upon reading the description of the ability, Gray could not help but be amazed at such powerful skill, no doubt going to be extremely useful against enemies with soul-based attacks.
'What the hell?' Gray wonders in utmost disbelief. 'What kind of broken ability is this?! It's overpowered no doubt!!'
Gray felt bewildered as to where he got this skill in the first place.
Perhaps it was unlocked from the ritual? Where the Elf's soul was tampered, thus the skill being revealed.
Or maybe it was already there the moment when he arrived here in this world as depicted in the description, the skill only to be unlocked just now from his soul being meddled from the ritual.
He'll deal with the issue later, seeing that he's still in a conversation with the Lizardling.
After allotting his time with the level up and Skill system, Gray faces Rarsu, a question on his mind that he can't help but ask. ”Wait, you mention about giving me the Arcane Sentinel? Not that I'm ungrateful or anything, but why? After going through all the trouble in your experiments and finally be able to activate her, you're just willing to give her away?”
Rarsu merely chuckles in response, understanding what the Elf is going about. ”Well, to be honest, the finished product is not exactly my goal here, but simply the methods, to see if it actually works. And because of our combined efforts, it really did. Now that I know of a reliable approach in creating an Arcane Sentinel, my mind can now rest easy knowing that I can execute such procedures in the future. Besides, I have faith that you can take care of and maintain her. Although, I still need that damn University for lending me their Arcanists, hahaha.”
”I see.” Gray nods with a smile. ”I thank you then, Rarsu.”
”No problem young man.” The Lizardling smirks. Then, he turns to look at the Sentinel who's solely eyeing at both Mages passively, a sentimental expression gracing on his scaly face. ”Since you're its new master, I suppose you have a choice of giving her a name or not. Either way, it does not matter since simply calling them Sentinel would suffice.”
”I'll be naming her.” Gray instantly made his decision without any hesitation. ”She possesses a portion of my soul, after all, so she's like a little me, I guess? Anyways, it feels wrong for me if I won't at least give her a semblance of an identity.”
[+2 GOOD]
”Like I said, your choice.” Rarsu slightly shrugs. ”And what will her name be then?”
”Hmm.” Gray rub his chin as he ponders, shifting his attention to the Sentinel who merely tilted her head in response at his action. As he thought about it, an idea suddenly struck inside his head as he faced the Lizardling. ”Rarsu, may I ask you something personal?”
”Speak.” Rarsu nods in response while crossing his arms. ”Since you will be my Apprentice, I suppose I'll allow it. After all, trust is a vital factor between a Master and an Apprentice if one hopes for a harmonious atmosphere that will prove beneficial in the passing of knowledge.”
Gray beams in appreciation as he states his inquiry. ”You mentioned before the ritual regarding your reason as to why you chose a body of a female human child, something about honoring someone that you hold dear in the past when she was around, right? May I know who she is?”
