153 Cursed life IV (1/2)
After she failed to track down her sister, the ponytailed girl simply returned to the mansion and continued to torment her family until she got bored with it.
She used her control over the spirits to force them to do whatever she wanted, but as always, due to her hatred towards them having been erased, she started to lose the joy of extending their torment.
She wondered if any emotion would be felt if she simply asked them to start killing each other, but even her father's death caused no reaction at all, so she simply gave up that idea.
The girl decided to just leave the house altogether and try to embark on her quest as a weapon of the gods.
Mia then continued to live the rest of her life as a champion of the north after the day. Traveling the world, searching for demons to slay, fulfilling her duty of trying to make her benefactor the next supreme deity.
The first demon Mia encountered opposed no challenge to her.
It was a horrendous beast that looked like a snake with five heads with the ability to vomit acid, creating several holes on the ground every time it bore its fangs.
Mia looked at the beast assuming she would be terrified by its appearance. But she felt no fear, she was not alarmed, she had absolutely no worries.
The demon spotted Mia and started to yell ”Human food!!!” as it pounced towards her. Thanks to Mia's body being boosted by cursed energy and blessed energy, she easily managed to dodge the attack by leaping to the side.
Before the snake could react, Mia grabbed the reptile by the tip of its tail and smashed it against a tree, killing it in the process.
”Huh... Was that it...?” she mumbled, surprised at how easy it was to kill a demon with her bare hands.
She touched the corner of her lips and realized that she was smiling a bit. She actually managed to get a little bit of joy out of that encounter.
”I need more...” she muttered, wondering if facing more demons could bring her full smile back to her.
And so she started going on a rampage, trying to face as many demons as she could, all in order to get her smile back. And just as she wished so, she soon had returned to the bright and cheerful child that she used to be.
Mia discovered a new form of entertainment from the act of eviscerating demons. Not because she enjoyed the act of killing them, but because she loved the thrill of being face-to-face with danger and overcoming it.
Every time she faced a new opponent she would think to herself 'Is this the one that might kill me?' and couldn't wait to start the fight a find out.
Her battles tended to be rather bloody due to how she would always engage the beasts with no weapons, and would end up full of wounds on her whole body.
She would get punched, smacked, stabbed, bitten, but nothing ever affected her since she couldn't feel any pain. Her body was basically a killing machine that could not be stopped.
Even if she ever found herself having trouble getting cursed energy, she would just walk in the middle of a city and kill a random person to trigger either the fear of the hate of those around her. Acquiring negative emotions was never a problem for her.
And so she continued her mission. Fighting demons, chasing after stronger opponents, causing agony among the people, all with a big smile stamped on her face as she could not feel any guilt or remorse from any of her sins.
But then, something changed.
Mia's smile was slowly starting to vanish. Her battles were no longer giving her any kind of joy as she realized that nothing could defeat her. She started trying to give handicaps to her opponents. Things like fighting with her hands tied behind her back, having her eyes closed, waiting ten seconds before trying to move. But she still couldn't lose.
But as time went on, the battle continued to become easier and easier. Mia was getting good at fighting, too good in fact. The movement of her opponents was starting to become slow in her eyes. She had faced so many different challenges that she was getting used to fighting anything at any time.
Years started to pass, then years became decades, and decades became centuries.
Mia would often try to spot her reflection on puddles or rivers to see if she still remembered how to smile. But as she noticed that her smile was starting to vanish for good, she realized she wasn't living anymore, she was just alive.
The immortal child asked North if there were more powerful challenges for her to take, to which he suggested for her to try and take on East's champion, the living weapon know as Marceus.
Mia got excited. She had heard many things about the living weapon and was looking forward to trading blows with him. But when she finally reached the champion, all she saw was a frail kid looking like he was about to cry.
One glance at the boy was all it took for her to realize he too was no challenge for her. Instead, she decided to just hang out with the kid for a while, enjoying her time teasing him with things like calling him ”Darling” and asking if he wanted to marry her. They were harmless pranks but still managed to make her laugh a little.
Then, things started to show more promise in Mia's future.
