148 Miss Teri (2/2)
Right after she opened the door to her room, she immediately closed it and hurriedly removed her high heeled shoes. Soon, her bare feet were touching the carpeted floor of the room and were navigating quickly to the bed's location. As she moved closer to the irresistibly soft bed in the innermost corner of the room, she threw herself in as she relieved a whole day of stress.
”Finally! I can now take a short break after this tiring event.” Miss Teri then pressed the velvet pillow on to her cheeks.
”Oops!” Miss Teri retracted the pillow from her face the moment she realized that she was still wearing her mask.
After her realization, she lazily stood up from the bed and walked inside the room's own bathroom. Facing the mirror, she slowly removed the mask she was wearing. She then placed it beside the washbowl and with a sad bitter smile, she stared at her half burnt face in the mirror. Seeing the horrible state of her face, Miss Teri can't help but shed tears.
Five years ago, she decided to launch a fashion collection inspired by recycling. That was why she decided to check on a certain poor village which she thought was the perfect location for her collection's photo shoot. She wanted to show everyone that elegance can be found everywhere. That even if a person was wearing something recycled, he or she can still stand out. She wanted to make people understand that one did not have to own clothes made from the finest and expensive materials just to look regal and feel good about themselves.
However, the night before the photo shoot, something heartbreaking happened. With just one blink of an eye, the entire village was suddenly engulfed in flames as screams of agony, pain, and desperation shrouded the air that night. Many lives were instantly taken by the raging flames, her team and her friends included. Though she had survived, it was not for free. Her face paid the price for that second life.
With her team's lives lost, Miss Teri also lost the will to pursue her fashion career for she blamed herself for her loved ones' death. That if she was not that ambitious, their lives could have been spared.
But fate wanted her to do exactly the opposite. Who would have thought that when she was rushed to the hospital she had a chance encounter with one of the perpetrators of the tragedy! She even heard the man called out the alias of his boss.
”Mr. Z.” Miss Teri angrily uttered the name of the mastermind of that night's tragedy. The man who ordered his subordinates to turn that poor village into a living hell, burning down her friends' lives as well as her dream.
Thanks to that encounter, Miss Teri had found her resolve to avenge her friends' death and help bring justice to the countless innocent lives that were wasted because of a certain person's greed.
