Originally, Darren had planned to fool Carlos by using a fake key.

But yesterday, he had received the news that tens of millions of dollars had mysteriously appeared in Dina's bank account.

Although Dina was a star, she was no longer a big hit, and now she was struggling due to being boycotted by many people on the internet. Even though she had landed herself a role in a movie, she could never make that much money in such a short time.

The only explanation was that the money came from an illegal source or underhanded dealings.

This raised enormous doubts with Darren. He immediately sent someone to look into her accounts. However, his underlings were unsuccessful in finding any information regarding who made the payment to Dina's account.

This made him even more suspicious. Something was not above board here, otherwise he would easily have gotten any information about the remittance.

Apparently, her benefactor wanted to disguise himself and avoid attracting attention. But why?

Darren felt suspicions gnaw at his heart. If the money was from Jacob, then it would explain everything.

'Why can't I find out who paid her? There must be a reason for it! Dina didn't tell me about the money because she clearly wants Jacob to save her later!' thought Darren bitterly.

On the other hand, he also understood why Jacob tried to hide the fact that he was her benefactor⁠—because he knew about the key and was afraid that Darren would do something to keep him from accomplishing his goal.

Hundreds of crazy thoughts spiraled in Darren's head. These wild guesses were almost driving him crazy. He knew it was high time he got to the bottom of this.

If his suspicions were true, then Jacob must have known about the key all this time. Therefore, it would be almost impossible to get the real key from Carlos! It was definitely not good news for Darren.

If only all these assumptions could prove to be false! That would be a great relief to him.

”Bring Dina to me.” Darren clenched his fists hard and muttered the order from between his gritted teeth. He needed to find out the truth!

In no time at all, the men who were guarding Dina brought her to him.
