Chapter 1368 Becoming Friends (2/2)
”Emily, can I stay at your place for one night?” Bonnie asked in a small voice.
She thought Emily seemed like a good person.
”Well, my home is a bit far from here to reach at this time of night, but my family bought me a new apartment
how I found out. As the owner of the house, I have many sources of information. In any case, I won't let you rent my house anymore. Get all your stuff out of here!”
the landlady insisted as she took out a key and unlocked the door.
”Hurry up! You had better clear out before 6 o'clock tonight, or I will call the police!” She merely glanced at Emily before turning around to leave.
Bonnie felt so aggrieved. She had just paid the month's rent, but the landlady had suddenly broken the contract, now leaving her destitute.
”Don't cry. Let's find a moving company, and you can move into my apartment. After all, there is a guest room next to my room.” Bonnie looked up at Emily, her eyes shining with gratitude as she said, ”Emily, you are so kind to me.”
”It was fate that we met. But I'm curious about why you would shelter a man with a gunshot wound.” Bonnie's eyes flashed uncertainly at Emily's question.
She kept silent, unsure of how to explain.
Emily smiled and said, ”You don't have to say anything if you don't want to, but you should be careful. There have been a great many wanted criminals on the loose in the city recently.”
”He was definitely not a wanted criminal.” Bonnie almost stammered and blushed as she said, ”A wanted criminal can't be so good-looking.” But she bit her lips and mumbled the words out of the side of her mouth instead. This kind of reasoning was not really a convincing explanation at all.
”Okay, I won't pressure you about this anymore.” Emily gently tugged Bonnie's ponytail and asked, ”How much rent does the landlady owe you?”
