Chapter 1368 Becoming Friends (1/2)
Before she could come up with an explanation, Bonnie laughed and said, ”Are you the kind of person who loses all direction at night?”
”Well, yes.” Emily increasingly believed that Bonnie was such an innocent and lovely girl. Bonnie was complacent about her judgment of Emily.
Suddenly, they saw the gleam of street lamps up ahead. Bonnie exclaimed, ”Look! We have arrived in the downtown area.”
”I saw it. By the way, my name is Emily. What's yours?” Emily introduced herself as she wanted them to get acquainted with each other.
”Bonnie Sun, but you can just call me Bonnie.”
Bonnie licked her lips, clearly a little shy. The car stopped outside an old residential building. Bonnie got out of the car and waved goodbye to Emily. But Emily stopped her and said, ”Wait, it's so dark in the building. Do you need me to accompany you in?”
”Thank you. But I'm okay on my own.” Bonnie began walking into an alley. However, as she spoke, she accidentally stepped on a branch, and she cried out as she almost tumbled. By that time, Emily had already gotten out of the car. She smiled and said, ”You're welcome. But let me walk inside with you.”
”Thank you!”
Bonnie didn't refuse this time. She thought that the least she could do to thank Emily was to invite her into her rented room and offer her a glass of water. However, she couldn't unlock her door.
Bonnie tried several more times and checked her room number again and again. She was sure that this was her rented lodging, but her key wouldn't open the door.
”What's wrong?” Emily couldn't help asking when she saw Bonnie's odd expression.
”I can't open the door. But this is the room I am renting.” Bonnie was on the verge on tears. All her belongings, including her books and personal effects, were locked in there.
”Shall we ask a locksmith to come help tomorrow?” Emily could not help offering a suggestion to her.
Bonnie nodded. The thought of Darren's gloomy eyes filled her with terror, though she had planned to call him. However, thinking that she might appear ungrateful to have secretly escaped from Darren's place tonight, she didn't dare call him now.
