Chapter 1346 Visiting Louis (1/2)
”Louis has been hospitalized?” Emily's voice indicated how this tensed her up. ”What's ailing him?”
Looking at her nervous face, Jacob gently took a hold of her small hand and whispered, ”It's really not a big deal, and I don't know exactly what is wrong with him. The doctor said that his immunity is weakened, and that he should be hospitalized for a while. It might even have been caused by his workaholic nature and his habitual self-neglect. Perhaps that's affected his health now. Come, I'll take you to see him, so you don't have to worry so much.”
Jacob lowered his head to kiss her tenderly on the forehead as he spoke.
He didn't reveal to Emily what had happened between Louis and Taylor. Considering Emily's frail emotional state now, he didn't want her to overthink again. She had always trusted Taylor before. If she was to find out that Taylor had betrayed her, she might suffer a serious relapse.
Now that her nerves were finally more settled, Jacob didn't want her to backslide into depression or anxiety. He really did care deeply for her.
”Okay.” Emily nodded and said, ”Well, let's go there now.”
Last time when Jacob had shown up at Louis's ward, Taylor had been there too. Although Jacob wouldn't exact revenge on her for Louis's sake, he was still worried that Emily would find out what had happened.
In the car, he held her hands protectively. Emily was a little surprised and turned to him. ”What's wrong?”
She had a suspicion that Jacob was hiding something from her.
”Why is your hand so freezing cold?” Jacob frowned with displeasure, then he wrapped both his hands over hers and said, ”Put your hands in my pocket. I'll warm them.”
Emily smiled, saying, ”I don't feel cold. Besides, when you hold my hands like that, I feel much warmer already.”
Jacob noticed her thin dress and frowned. He had been preoccupied when they had left home, so he hadn't noticed what she was wearing. Recently, the weather had definitely taken a turn to a colder temperature. Emily was too careless, and she hadn't taken care to dress warmly.
