Chapter 1343 A New Angle (1/2)

Jacob squatted in front of Emily, noticed the blue circles under her eyes, and felt sorry for her. Suddenly, he wrapped his arms around Emily's waist and said, ”My mission failed. I lost track of Darren and haven't rested for several days!”

”Darren?” Emily's heart skipped a beat. Instead of blaming him, she became concerned, asking, ”Are you hurt? Did that evil bastard do anything to you?”

Jacob shook his head dejectedly. Taking advantage of Emily's concern for him, he quickly rose and sat on the sofa, seizing the opportunity to hold Emily in his arms. Then, he replied like a spoiled child, ”No, I didn't get hurt, but Darren got away. We have looked for him for many days, but we haven't found any trace of him!”

”Darren escaped? Where did he go?” Emily fretted nervously. Darren was a demon and guilty of many bad deeds. If he skulked off and hid in the dark, it would be more difficult to finally deal with him.

Previously, Darren had fled to F Country. Emily had thought that that would be the last time they would see or hear from Darren, but she never anticipated that he would not be willing to lead his life as a fugitive. And now that he had returned home, he had caused even more danger.

Emily trembled all over at the thought of Darren still being on the lam.

Jacob didn't really want to discuss Darren with Emily now after coming back home. He just used it as an excuse to act like a spoiled child so that Emily wouldn't blame him. Then, he could relax and finally get some sleep.

Obviously, he had succeeded in distracting Emily's attention.

”Honey, I haven't slept for several days. Shall we go take a shower and get some sleep?” Jacob could tell that Emily was exhausted from her weary and pale face. He had been so caught up in dealing with Darren these days that he hadn't dared to call Emily and share any news with her, because he had feared that she would worry about him.

Now, he was safe at home, so when he told Emily about Darren's escape, she wouldn't become too emotional.

But she also seemed to have missed out on some sleep, and she would certainly benefit from some good rest.

As soon as Emily curled up in Jacob's arms, she felt a sense of security sweep over her, and her face grew peaceful. Soon, no longer feeling as high-strung, she became drowsy as if her weary body had already accepted Jacob's suggestion to get some sleep.
