Chapter 7 Leenas Blind Date (2/2)

The matchmaker was also surprised at the sudden intrusion. Mrs. Yang, on the other hand, took her time and managed to recognize the man. ”Are you that...”

He nodded at her when she couldn't finish her sentence. ”Nice to meet you, Aunt Yang!” he greeted enthusiastically.

The man butted in once again, ”I'm asking you who you are!”

Miguel answered, ”A man like you don't even deserve to know.” He then dragged Leena out of the place without bidding them goodbye. Her mother trailed behind them. He took Leena and her mother to the parking lot. It seemed like he and his friends went to a party at the club next to the restaurant. He bid his goodbye first to his friends before he took the woman and her mother into his car. He got on his Hummer and started the engine.

Mrs. Yang kept on asking Miguel a lot of questions which he politely gave his answer to. When she was finished with her questioning, Miguel started to speak. ”Auntie, you shouldn't let Leena go to any blind date again.”

Mrs. Yang creased her forehead at his words, and turned to her daughter. However, she did not explain. When they arrived at Leena's house, he asked her mother's permission to take her with him. Even though Mrs. Yang agreed, there was a weird feeling in the pit of her stomach, as if there was something between the two young people.

”Why were you at the restaurant?” Leena asked.

”Why were you on a blind date?” Miguel said at the same time Leena asked a question.

She looked down at her feet and answered first, ”My mother wanted me to get married because she thinks that our family is becoming a burden to me. She was afraid that I wouldn't get married.”

”Don't go on a blind date again. That kind of man doesn't deserve you.” Miguel cocked his brow at her.

”He was actually the best one I've met so far. I just can't stand his misogynistic personality!” Leena exclaimed.

”See? That's why going on dates like that isn't worth it. You will never find a good man through that.”

Leena sighed and looked past the window. She realized that she was once intimate with this man. Now that she thought of it, it was impossible to be with him. After all, he only cared about her as a close friend. ”Miguel, thank you for your concern, but you can leave my romantic life to me,” she uttered bitterly.

Miguel gasped at her in disbelief. ”Does that mean you're going to that kind of date again?”

”If that's what will make my mother happy, then sure.” Leena shrugged.

”Are you that worried that no man will take you as their bride? Why don't you try to look around you?” Miguel said as if he was implying something.

”Well, do you know anyone who will marry a poor woman like me?” she asked with an indifferent tone.

He swallowed the lump on his throat and hesitated for a while. ”How about me?”
