Chapter 7 Leenas Blind Date (1/2)
The blind date was arranged in a stylish western restaurant. Before she went there, Mrs. Yang gave her a piece of her mind. ”If the man is sincere to you, you also have to do the same and at least give him a chance.”
Leena just nodded her head to her even though she didn't care that much. She was too young to look for a potential husband. Her priority at the moment was to support her family. Instead of an extravagant look, she chose her casual clothing accompanied by a pair of black-rimmed glasses.
Mrs. Yang thought that this was her way of paying Leena back. Leena had been busy with their family that she didn't even have the time for a relationship. Now was the time for her to enjoy her youth and meet men that could be her significant other in the future.
The man had already arrived. The matchmaker that arranged this meeting was Aunt Amy who sat next to him. Leena observed him closely. He was dressed in a suit and tie as if he had just gone out of his office. He was well-built but his facial features were just an average. He gave out an aura of a mature and shrewd person.
Leena's line of work made her a better judge of character. Even at first glance, she could deduce what kind of man he was. He was a 32 year-old successful man and based on his appearance, he was domineering. There must have been a lot of women on his sideline. He came here only because he was looking for a well-educated woman who had a knack for housework. She could predict that this man would have no respect for his wife. Maybe he would continue to let other women warm his bed even after marriage.
Leena continued to talk to him to observe better. She realized that the man was oozing with toxic masculinity. He never paid attention to her comments ad he kept on babbling about gender roles. He was self-centered that he almost moved the ancient law to his favor. Furthermore, he asked her for marriage without having the intention of knowing her better. All he cared about was she had to follow him around. He must be looking for a maid and not a wife.
”Mr. He, how many blind dates have you had?” she asked.
”I can't remember exactly but I've done this a lot of times. Why?”
”You're a rich man, why does it seem like no one wanted to date you?” There was a mischievous smile plastered on Leena's face when she realized that the man refused to tell her the truth.
His aura changed at her words and then he muttered in a cold voice, ”Miss Yang, I came to this date because I find you beautiful and you are well-educated as well. You can never find a good man like me if you let this chance pass. I also know your family background. Do you think there is any man who would want to have such a burden? Your obedience is only a small sacrifice that you can do for your potential husband.”
Leena almost rolled her eyes at his arrogant remark. She had nothing in common with him and she hated this kind of man. His only intention for marriage was to carry on his family line and dominate his woman. She sighed loudly to express her disinterest in him, which he picked up quickly. Without further ado, he stood up as his shadow hovered above her. ”That's it! I will never meet you in the future again. You will never find a good man like me anymore. Any woman who refuses to submit to a man is a foolish one!”
Leena cocked her brows at him and was about to fire back, but Mrs. Yang and Aunt Amy stopped her. ”You are a woman in your twenties who came from a poor family. I was kind enough to introduce you to a potential lover, but I didn't expect you to act this way. Do you think you can find a better man than him? You can't be so picky like this. If you continue doing that, you will never get married,” Aunt Amy said, taking the man's side.
”Really? And why do you think so?” Leena spat back. She had been listenin
g to too much of that man's crap. It was suffocating and controlling, and she hated every part of it.
”Amy, I'm so sorry for my daughter's disobedience. She is still young and didn't know how this world works. Please forgive her,” Mrs. Yang apologized on behalf of her daughter.
Leena looked at her mother and took her hand. ”Mom, please! I don't want to marry that kind of man. Do you want me to be a slave instead of a wife? You don't have to be so apologetic to a despicable man like him!”
While they were arguing, a man came over and took Leena's hand. ”Who says that no one wants her? A princess like her doesn't deserve this kind of treatment!”
Leena turned her head at the familiar voice. Miguel stood next to her and glared at the man in front of him. He clutched her hand possessively as if he was expressing that she belonged to him.
Unlike her date, he was younger and more attractive. Whatever he wore, his look would always stand out. The older man pointed at him in anger. ”Who are you?”
