80 Clearly The Enemy (1/2)

Unity Hospital 2:15 pm

Li Xiuying knocked on private room six.

Female voice: ”Come in.”

Li Xiuying entered the room. Two teenagers were currently unpacking the contents of their luggage all over the bed and floor. They were arguing about who gets which bed.

A middle aged couple who were most likely their parents were trying to curb the teenager's incessant squabbling.

There were two other people in the room picking up the clothes and items around the room.

Middle aged woman looked towards Li Xiuying: ”Hello, may I help you?”

Li Xiuying: ”I'm Dr. Li I'm here to discuss the details regarding the operation tomorrow.”

Middle aged woman assessed the woman in front of her: ”Welcome Dr. Li. Are you doing the initial assessment before your senior comes to review our boys?”

Li Xiuying: ”I'll be the one performing part of the operation.”

Middle aged woman had a look of horror on her face: ”Do they let junior members of staff just operate on patients without any supervision? How many operations could you have possibly done in your short career?”

Middle aged man: ”Calm down honey. I'll call father now and inform him about this situation. I don't think he would have come to this hospital if he knew of the situation.”

The middle aged man took out his phone to call Elder Huang. While he waited for his father to pick up he spoke to the boys: ”Don't continue unpacking. We'll be going to Emerald hospital. I'm sure we can convince Dr. Yang Zian to operate.”

Elder Huang became anxious: ”Hello, Qi what's going on? Is there something wrong with Fuhua? What about Liko?”

Huang Qi: ”No they're both fine. Father I think its best if we have the operation at Emerald hospital they have a good reputation and also the highly renowned Dr. Yang Zian.”

Elder Huang: ”What's brought this on?”

Huang Qi: ”A doctor who's clearly just fresh out of med-school said that she wants to operate on the boys. She said she doesn't even have a senior. Unity hospital is clearly a joke. Father I know you would want what's best for the boys so you won't object to going to Emerald. Besides as the boy's fathers I think I know what's best for them. We're going to pack up and immediately head over to Emerald hospital now.”

Huang Qi expected his dad to be outraged at Unity hospital conduct and immediately agree.

Elder Huang: ”Qi. Let me remind you that I am their legal guardian. You and your wife have been off gallivanting across the world for the last decade and left the boys behind like an afterthought. They will be having the operating at Unity hospital and the only surgeon I want operating on them is Dr. Li Xiuiyng.”

Elder Huang was infuriated by his son and his attempt at playing a parent. Qi Huang and his wife had only returned to the country the day before yesterday and now they wanted to to control everything? If there wasn't an important meeting at the bank today, he would have been in Unity hospital.

Qi Huang felt the name Li Xiuying sounded familiar.

Qi Huang: ”Are you The Dr. Li Xiuying? The Dr. Li that revolutionized the field of heart transplantation? You created an artificial valve that... ”

Elder Huang: ”Huang Qi stop making a fool out of yourself and apologize to Dr. Li. If you can't control yourself or you have a problem with my arrangements then get back on a plane and go find someone who cares.” Elder Huang put down the phone.

Li Xiuying didn't bother saying anything.

Qi Huang cleared his throat awkwardly: ”Dr. Li please forgive our earlier comments. We had no idea who you were.”

Qi Huang's wife followed suit: ”Dr. Li we apologize.”

Li Xiuying paid no attention to these two people: ”Huang Fuhua and Suen Liko I'm here to discuss the procedure with you both.”

Qin Jingfei's office 3:50 pm

Inside the office is was as cold as the Antarctic. Little 4th hadn't spoken a word since lunch time.

Little 4th's phone vibrated it was message from Li Xiuying: ”Waiting outside.”

He walked to Qin Jingfei who was sitting at her desk and showed her Li Xiuying's message.

Qin Jingfei sighed at little 4th's antics. No matter what Qin Song did or said to make little 4th speak he remained an impenetrable fortress. He even refused to speak to her out loud because Qin Song was present.

Qin Jingfei: ”Okay little 4th go ahead. I'll walk you out.”

Little 4th put his phone away.

Qin Song looked up from his laptop and massive stacks of spreadsheets around him.
