8 Chapter 8: (2/2)
”Come on Ajax. I don't have all night.” I growled, slightly out of breath still when he growled at me and rushed over to me. He was never the brightest candle of the bunch, but he made up for it in his powerful direct attacks.
Before he could get to me, I jumped in the air again and launched myself further in the air with his body. He fell to the ground in pain and from when I used all my weight to make my body jump further into the air.
”Sagittis et arcu meo! Veni voluntatem meam!” A large bow and arrows appeared in front of me before I pulled the drawstring back and shot Ajax with one of the arrows. It pierced his shoulder earning a strained growl as he jumped out of the way, allowing me to fall to the ground safely.
He was glaring at me deadly when I grinned and tossed the weapon in the air, watching it disappear within thin air. We knew who had won, but neither of us said a word about it.
”Oh don't be a cry baby. Come here and I'll heal you.” I motioned him over when he growled and limped over to me while I kneeled down to the ground and held my hand out.
It took him a minute to get over to me, but once he was close enough to me, he set his paw into my hands making me close my eyes and concentrate.
”Sana quod deterioratus est,” I spoke out, his body posture straightening while the wounds healed themselves faster than his body could heal them. Within seconds, his injuries were healed and he s.h.i.+fted back into human form.
He was breathing hard but he seemed to not be in any pain anymore so that was a plus.
I still needed him for the d.a.m.n vampire tonight.
”Alright pup. Let's go. We have a vampire to kill tonight.” I patted his shoulder, standing up and brus.h.i.+ng the dirt off my pants. ”Show's over people. Haven't your parents taught you that it was rude to stare?” I ask them when they scurried off quickly as Alexandra hurried over to her mate.
She was trying to make sense of everything while I stepped away and snapped my finger to change back into my last outfit. The familiar hood gave me comfort and safety as I sat down on the ground to regenerate my lost mana from the battle.
It was more than I wanted to us, but I got caught up with how much fun it was fighting someone. These past few days have really built some burning anger that needs to be released one way or another.
Anything could set me off.
Which is the perfect time for hunting.
”Xenon? You alright?” Zavier asks me making me look up and see him peering down at me with an awkward smile.
”Yes.” I stood up quickly, not bothering to stand around and socialize with him since I was a little skeptical if he was still thinking if I was hexing him.
I still couldn't believe-
I can't start thinking about that now.
It'll throw my whole game off.
”Are you sure? Why are you even here?” He questions once again when I avoided his gaze and looked at my nails.
”I'm on a personal job. Going to kill some vampires tonight. I just gotta head there now.” I told him while I glancing at him with an annoyed look. ”Why? You think I hexed you to come to me or something?” I snap a little more forceful than I wanted to be but I could care less.
”No Xenon-”
”Look at this! And to think it was only Faye you were into. Now this woman?! It's alright. I can kill her as well.” A woman cut Zavier off before I turned towards the woman who also had bloodied red eyes. Her long straight blonde hair was twisted into a bun with several other vampires behind her.
”Terra Mandle. Right?” I ask out loud, tempted to get revenge for trying to murder me. Her appearance reminded me of the girl from the cookout, explaining why her name sounded so familiar now. ”You? Kill me?” I crackled in laughter and rested a palm on Zavier's chest only to spite her. ”You want him?” I ask her when snapping my finger. ”Come get him.” Zavier yelped in surprise from the two men who came from the ground, holding several daggers and swords.
Though he finally realized that the men were made of rock and dirt, they weren't real.
”These are my puppets. They technically never die but my magic will run out. Either they kill you, I kill you or you can take all three of us.” I offer, the other vampires snarling in protest. ”Or I can kill all of you.” I shrug with a s.a.d.i.s.tic smile. ”I'm in the mood and I'm not allowed to kill wolves so you're the next best option.” My words caused her to s.h.i.+ver which satisfied me.
Before I could realize what happened, she ran up to me and tried slas.h.i.+ng at me but she missed miserably. I grabbed her head and threw her to the ground.
”Get your people inside. I'll cover you until reinforcements come. Ajax! Are you ready for some old times?” I yelled to him when Ajax told his mate to help Zavier and stood up to join me. Cracking his fist with a grin, we stood beside each other and stared at the angry vampires with their leader recovering from when I threw her on the ground.
”G.o.d. This is what I'm gonna miss the most.” He groaned while I chuckled and snapped my fingers to protect him from the vampire's compulsion.
”What? Killing?” I said, surprised he spoke his thoughts.
”No. Being able to lose all control to kill mother f.u.c.king vampires.” He said, morphing into his wolf before he stood tall beside me. His words made me laugh a little bit as I transformed into a different outfit that was made for killing vampires.
”I have to agree. You take them and I'll cover you. My inexistent men will protect the wolves until they are safely inside.” I told him, the wolves behind us not moving irritating me. ”On the count of three,” I said watching the vampires fangs lengthen.
”Xenon-”
”One,” I said, clicking my tongue at the beings I created from the ground and silently ordering them to protect Zavier's wolves at any cost. They nodded, pulling out giant branches of wood from their bodies to use as weapons.
I knelt down to the ground, resting my hand on the ground to gain some much-needed energy from the nature around us. Their existence already dwelling down my mana.
”Two,” I whispered, taking a large breath while Ajax s.h.i.+fted into a lunging position. Ready for my signal.
The vampires grew restless, waiting for their leader who was currently mesmerized by Zavier and I. Which would help in my attack since she was clearly distracted.
”Three! Lux sancta deorum! Luceant super cernendi eadem animalia vigeant!” I held my hand out to the vampires, a blinding light coming from the sky and burning the h.e.l.l out of them even if they were daylight resistant. Ajax dove for several vampires that went for his mate, tearing their throats out.
My hand was kicked away by Terra who landed a few punches to my jaw, stopping the light from burning her vampires. I cursed angrily, grabbing her face and slamming it down to the ground again. I called the blinding light once again only this time I targetted it at her from my palm.
She screamed in pain, latching her legs on my thighs and causing me to fall on the ground. I landed on the ground roughly while she held her face in horror and misery.
I was about to get back up but a random vampire broke through Ajax's barrier of dead bodies and took a bite out of my throat. A scream came through my mouth before I used some of my power to burn a hole through the demon's chest and knock it off me.
Before he could heal himself, I slipped out my dagger and sliced its head off its body. My throat burned in pain when I slammed my foot on the vampire's head. Blood and guts exploding from his head.
The bite on my neck throbbed with pain that I couldn't describe, though it wasn't the worst pain I'd ever felt. That didn't make the wound feel any less better.
”Ajax! Do a better job d.a.m.n it!” I yelled at him while Terra came at me again, this time with a bloodied eye and burned face. ”Holy s.h.i.+t! You're scarier than I am!” I barked out a laugh as I knocked her off her footing and held her down with my body. ”Stay,” I said, her body going limp as I stood up and noticed a few wolves getting into a fight.
There was a little girl-
”Lita!” I screamed, a vampire diving for the girl before I ran over to her and slammed the vampire against the wall of the pack house. ”Run!” I yelled at her as she nodded fearfully and rushed off into the house.
The vampire struggled against my hold, my hands reaching up to his throat. In a flash, I twisted his neck and dropped the vampire while stabbing a stake through his head and finding Zavier standing behind me with a dark look.
”What do you want?! You were supposed to get everyone inside yet Lita was outside?! How could you do that to a little girl?!” I shouted at him, a vampire coming from behind him when I snapped my finger and had one of my rock giants bash him with a giant branch.
”How do you know her name?” He asked, looking furious while I blinked at him slightly annoyed that he was asking me that question right at the moment.
”I don't have time to-”
”Answer me!” He yells at me viciously as I narrowed my eyes at him.
”Move,” I order knowing it wouldn't work but it was worth a chance.
Zavier rose his hand causing a flashback to return within my eyes. My mind was thrown into a dark room with the man I had nightmares about.
His dark and menacing smile was crooked with a devil look that could scare anyone in society. In his hand, he was holding a whip that was caked in blood and grime.
I stared at the ground, my face covered in scratches and tears that were washed away with blood.
The fear I felt.
The horror I felt.
The disgusted feeling I felt...
I couldn't take it.
I can't take it.
I shook horribly, my palms burning when I glared up at Zavier and slammed my fist in his face.
