21 Chapter 21: (2/2)

Shrugging on my coat, I began to leave the office so I could join my gorgeous mate in her fight.

〰 Khole 〰

”Would you like some help?” I ask a demoness that was dragging out a table to the yard, getting ready for some important person to come. The young girl jumped once I said something as she shook her head wildly.

”N-No, my princess! I am okay.” She a.s.sures when I sighed and stood up from my spot against the tree. I took the table from her and motioned for her to lead me to where she wanted it making her blush. ”Thank you.”

I frowned at this, stretching my sore muscles. ”You don't have to thank me. And my name is Khole so no more princess c.r.a.p. If you ever need help, just come to me. Alright?” I tell her with a stern look making her s.h.i.+ver.

”Of course, Miss Khole.” She smiled, stopping and pointing at the ground when I stretched out the legs of the table and planted it on the ground. ”Thank you for your help again.” She scurried off before I could yell at her again, my eye twitching with renewed annoyance.

That was quite annoying.

I slipped my sword over my shoulder, kneading my built-up tension and walking for the castle. A shower sounded perfect right now even if Dylan and I shared a room, he respected my boundaries and knew when to stay away.

Every night though, I'd have nightmares and he always came into the room to cradle me back to sleep. He slept with me every night and each morning his warmth would be gone.

It hurt, but this was what I wanted.

”Hey. Where are you going?” Agalana questions me when I walked past her and into the door. She seemed like in a brighter mood only demolis.h.i.+ng mine.

”Taking a shower then heading to bed.” I simply say, running a sweaty palm over my forehead.

”It's six in the afternoon. Plus there is a cookout tonight.” She spoke quickly, following behind me and up the grand staircase. Her persistence causing me to scowl in fury as she backed away but continued following me.

”Why would I care whether there was a cookout or not? Valkyries don't need to eat.” I point out, her ignorance recently p.i.s.sing me off but I didn't question her need to watch over my every moment.

I was the clone of her best friend.

”Just because we don't eat regularly like normal people in the lore doesn't mean we don't need it. Valkyries can just go longer without eating a meal. Though I haven't seen you eat in a few days.” She points out though I knew the reason.+

I still didn't trust the foods around me and ever since Dylan had betrayed me, I haven't tasted a single food prepared. Which meant that my strength was deteriorating since I haven't had a meal in what felt like weeks.

Not that it mattered, a Valkyrie can survive long times without eating anything and I am going to prove such a thing.

”I ate the other day. Now leave me, I am exhausted and would like some rest.” I wave away, shutting my door in her face and tossing my blade on the ground. Stripping out of my chest plate and feathered skirt, I walked to the restroom and got into the shower.

The warm waters pouring over my bruised and sore muscles while I groaned in pure bliss. Being in the water like this reminds me of how lucky it was to be here and not in the manor.

The manor only had cold water.

Not that it mattered, I only got warm baths that Dylan somehow made for me. All of the Valkyries were jealous of the warmth I received and wondered about how he had created the warm baths for me.

Times like those reminded me of how much I missed everything from before.

But nothing would be the same.

After twenty minutes, I wrapped a fluffy towel around me and left the restroom and felt a soft breeze from the window. I walked over to the window, the grip I had on the towel around me tightening.

The blazing fires from below lit up the city of demons, cheers and laughter sounding even this far above making me sigh and lean against the windowpane. The cookout was buzzing with people around the tables and children running around with each other.

Even in the underworld, people were happy and I wasn't.

I don't seem to be happy anywhere.

A sigh left me as I closed my window and turned away seeing Dylan at the doorway.
