”What are you going to do, brother? The blood moon is tomorrow and it seems no progress has been made.” Pairs said in snickering tone when I snapped my teeth at her, watching my mate swing her blade down at Agalana.

”I've made progress, dear sister.” I sneer making her laugh in a light tone, her eyes trained on her own mate. Hjala threw daggers at Hrudra, trying to get her with one of them but Hrudra was skilled enough to deflect all of them easily.

”Oh yes. I have as well. My darling, Hjala, knows of the moon rising tomorrow and has even gone to the length to court me. Isn't she the loveliest?” Pairs purr catching Hjala's attention before getting knocked on the ground by a large branch. My sister merely chuckled, not worried over her strong Valkyrie woman.

These Valkyries were... too much at times.

”You told her what is happening to you tomorrow...?” I ask bewildered when she spared me a glance and gave a short nod.

”Yes. I told her that I would have to be with another because the blood moon would have scared her s.h.i.+tless. However, my woman has b.a.l.l.s of steel and was aroused at the thought. Who would have thought Valkyries were amazing?” Pairs said in a delighted tone, her eyes trained on Hjala and her swift moves.

I was surprised that any woman or man would accept a demon s.h.i.+ft and at their most vulnerable time. I knew that Valkyries were bada.s.s, but I never truly expected this.

”Yes. They truly are.” I agree, glancing back as Khole jumped out of the way of Agalana's attack and dove under her arm. Khole lashed out, hitting Agalana's leg and forcing her to the ground.

A victorious grin rising on her beautiful face when looking up at me with s.h.i.+ning eyes.

”What will you do? Have you not told Khole-Boo about the blood moon?” Pairs ask me, using the pet name she's been calling my mate. She stared at me, her eyes widening when I didn't say a word. ”Oh my G.o.d. You haven't told, Khole. Oh. You a.s.shole. Did you plan on going to be with another woman just to settle this need? Y-”

”I don't have a choice. You of all people know this.” I hiss at her, knowing that this will only drive a drift between Khole and I but I didn't want to force her into something she didn't want.

Cade may have been nice to her, but when tomorrow comes...

He won't be the same and neither will I.

”Oh yeah. Totally. Just like how I didn't have a choice? I told Hjala about everything and we've known each other for two? Maybe three days?” She waved her hands around in a frantic way while I only narrowed my eyes at her. ”You are truly pathetic. I call you brother through all your decisions whether good or bad. But this one...?” Pairs shook her head, looking disgusted. ”I will not. Not this time.”

”Wait.” I s.n.a.t.c.hed her arm before she could walk away, sighing deeply and trying not to get riled up. ”You must watch her tomorrow. Please.” I plead to her as Hjala abandoned Hrudra and walked over to us.

”What's happening? Are you alright, my mate?” Hjala asks softly, running her palm over her waist and eyeing me.

”Do not ask me of this. I will no-”

”You have to,” I beg, grasping both her hands tightly. ”Please. Both of you.” My eyes flicked to Hjala's then back to Pairs's black eyes that stared at me in pure anger.

Pairs scoffed, s.n.a.t.c.hing her hands from mine and stomping away. Hjala looked at her p.i.s.sed mate then at me in an irritated way before chasing after her. I knew that Pairs would help me because, in any other situation, I would help her.

”Dylan...?” I felt a small hand tug on my s.h.i.+rt as I peered around my shoulder and saw Khole staring at me worried. The other two ladies must have caught the scene because each of them were staring at me in a knowing way, making me feel sick.

”What is it, little one?” I ask her in a tight voice when she bites her bottom lip and flicked her gaze between me and Pairs who was currently fading away.

”Are you and Pairs, alright?” She looked worried and the sight had my chest burning with the need to tell her the truth. It was already hard enough for me to remain in control around her, but with her staring at me so intently like this...

”Yes. I am leaving on a trip tomorrow and asked her to watch over you. Not need to worry, little one. You will be well.” I promise her, my hand twitching to touch her but Khole didn't like PDA very much. Which to be honest bugged me because I wanted everyone to know she belonged to me.

Only me.

”Leaving? W-Why?” Her nervous stutter clicked back in and I forgot all sense and hugged her tightly against me. Wis.h.i.+ng she trusted me enough to let me settle her s.e.xual needs.

It hurt me to know she pleased herself when her doors were closed at night. I just hoped I would have romanced her enough by now, but it's clear that I have not made much progress.

Which left me only two choices.
