Chapter 44: The dorm (1/2)
As if everyone was searching for their names on the lists of the classes, Ed immediately checked his name in the E class list and found it there. He also waited for Emilia and Hayato to check their names and coincidently they were also in E class.
'It seems like I'll be making my own End class, how fitting!' Ed remembered a certain anime he had enjoyed where the dropouts of the school were placed in E class and found it fitting that he joined it as well. While most people who found their names went to the back of the class to make some room for others, some didn't accept their designated class.
”Why am I in E class as well?! I was first in the physical test!” It was the beast woman and she seemed mad about her placement.
”You also placed last in the magic test which automatically places you in E class” The general explained to her why she was placed in E class. After hearing his explanation she could do nothing but grind her teeth and go to the back of the class.
Ed checked every name in the classes and found that the king's daughter was in A class along with Norris Aragon. 'She probably got special treatment for being the king's daughter. That or she is powerful enough to be admitted without a test' Ed was guessing the reason behind the placement of the king's daughter.
Soon enough everyone had confirmed their placement and went to the back. Seeing this the king stood up and his daughter joined the group this time as well.
”Well then, now that everything is sorted out it's time to explain some things” The king cleared his throat and continued. ”First of all, classes are not obligatory however exams are. There will be an exam every 2 months. If you achieve enough points in your exams and surpass someone from the classes above yours it is possible to replace them.”
Hearing this, some people were overjoyed while others looked unhappy. The king had just told them that it is possible for them to have an upgrade or a demotion depending on their performance so everyone had to work hard to maintain their good position, or to improve their current one.
”Secondly, you can leave academy grounds to hunt in the surrounding areas if you want.
However, you would have to guarantee your own safety as no one from the school board would accompany you” This was one of the questions that Ed had wanted to ask but was now answered. This meant that Ed wouldn't have to sneak around to kill monsters for exp.
”Thirdly, you can go back to the capital anytime you want during the day. However, if you do not come back before sundown you'll have to wait until the next day” This was the other question that Ed wanted answers for. Ed wanted to check the capital auction that he heard usually sells cockatrice meat. He also wanted to check on Eri and the other orphans every once in a while.
”Lastly, the training room in your dorm rooms are soundproof and don't allow for QI to leak outside so you can train and cultivate without having to worry about anything.” Everyone was relieved to hear this, they won't have to worry about complains when training from their neighbors.
”Oh, I forgot! You will have to pay a tuition fee of 5000 gold coins. The academy is new and needs funding to keep improving!” The king left the room while laughing and leaving everyone dumbfounded. He had chosen his time well so no one would ask him any questions.
People didn't stay either; they went to the administration to get their dorm keys according to the general's orders. Ed had the room number 29; Emilia had room 57 and Hayato room 32. Both male and female dorms had 100 rooms, which seemed like they were preparing for increasing the number of students next year.
