”Then I will use my left hand. If my fingers could trade for her happiness, it will be worth it. I don't make false promises.” Chen Mu handed the scalpel to her and closed his eyes with his hand flat against the counter.
”No! You think Susu will be happy if you give her your fingers?! You getting hurt is the last thing she would ever want to see! You idiot!!” Lin Que screamed as Chen Nan tried to grab the scalpel from Zi Yan.
She smiled as she walked closer to Chen Mu. His eyes were closed, but clearly nervous as she approached him. ”You should hurry while I could still handle the pain.”
”I don't need your fingers. Even if I did need some fingers, it would be chicken fingers with a biscuit on the side. Oh, don't forget the ranch.” She wrapped her arms around him and gave him a tight hug.
”Huhh?” he opened his eyes and realized that the scalpel was thrown to the floor. She was hugging him tightly to the point where he was short of breath.
She released him and looked at him with reddened eyes, ”Thank you for loving my daughter wholeheartedly. I didn't mean it when I asked you for your fingers. It was my test to see how much you valued her. As a doctor, you must treasure these pair of hands. Her operation doesn't require any transplants. I just have to prepare for it myself.”
Professor Luo Xia nodded proudly, ”You and your tests give my old heart a scare every damn time. Did you forget that this old man had an open heart surgery? Sheesh, what if he actually chopped those fingers off?”
”Heh, you are saying that now, but I'm pretty sure you were satisfied with his response. Since everything is considered settled, for now, my job here is almost done. Just waiting for the Cat to drag the Rat into the sticky trap.”
She held onto her father as they walked passed the three doctors who were as still as a statue. ”Ah, right. Your hands are used to save lives. No matter what happens, you should never give them up. I'm sure Susu would end up hating herself if you lost even a small piece of skin for her. So, take care of yourself, understand? Don't let my daughter worry.”
Chen Nan mumbled, ”That's if you would stop scaring our little hearts and throwing random tests like that. Almost made me jump you for that scalpel.”
”What did you just say? Hoh~ Maybe I should tell your wife about that time when you saw that spider on the ceiling and thought that it was a roach and-” Zi Yan smirked as she blabbed out Chen Nan's secrets.
”My lord!!! Don't you guys have somewhere to be at? I mean uh rest? Like back at the hotel? It's getting late~ Oh! Or do you want food? What did you say you wanted? Chicken fingers with a biscuit on the side and ranch! Hahahaha, I'll go get it for you, right this moment!” Chen Nan escorted them back to Susu's room before hurrying out of the hospital.
Chen Mu and Lin Que stared at each other with their faces super close. That's when they realized that Lin Que was still hugging Chen Mu by the waist and Chen Mu was leaning over the counter. Lily walked out to rinse her knife and was looking at the group pictures that she just took with Ariana and Susu.
When she looked up, she lifted her camera app up and targeted the fabulous handsome men in front of her.
The guys saw from the corner of their eyes that she bent down on one knee and snapped a photo of them together. She gave a very naughty smile and giggled before walking back into Susu's room with her unwashed knife. After that, everyone else popped their heads out to peek and took more pictures.
At the end, Lin Que and Chen Mu didn't understand why they were still stuck together like two peanuts in one shell, but they did receive many spams in group chats with their pictures as the thumbnail.
