Chapter 28 - You Dont Believe me either, do you? (2/2)

”M..Mother...and.. dad..” Susu called out to Shen Wen and Yin Zin Leung, who were standing outside her door.

”No need to say anything, Susu. Mother believes that you aren't the type of person to harm another person. You wont be stupid enough to do something like that and you also had the flu, so no reason to harm your health like that. Take care of yourself as I need to have a word with him.” She twisted Tian Yuo's ears until it turned red and dragged him out of the room.

Meanwhile, Yin Zin Leung walked into the room and sat down by Susu's bedside, ”How are you feeling?”

”I'm fine. I only drank some salted water and almost died from getting pulled into the ocean. Dad, do you believe me?” She smiled with lingering tears in her eyes that didn't dare escape. The words that Karen said at the dock mixed with some people's accusations against her, made her wonder if her dad would take her side this time.

”Susu, just focus on recovering for now.” He avoided her question.

She sighed lowly and let out a few sniffles, ”Dad, by avoiding the question, you already indirectly answered me. Even you think that I lured her out to the dock to drown her, didn't you?”

”Susu, don't be like this.” Zin Leung reached out to wipe the tears that were falling down her pale face.

She slapped his hand away, ”You chose to believe her because she drowned in front of everyone at a young age. But dad, have you ever asked me my side of the story? Even when I'm telling the truth about her calling me to the dock and trying to pull me into the waters? I was the one who almost died when she spat out some water and that was it!”

Her tears were like an opened floodgate, once she started, it never ends. She cried as she held onto her dad's sleeve, sometimes coughing in-between and sometimes holding her hand against her chest, ”Just like the money that you thought I stole. Just like that time when Karen only had to say a few words and you immediately believed in her words! I'm also your daughter.”

”This and that situation are two different things. You can't mix it together. That time, I wronged you and already apologized after finding out the truth.”

The words that have been trapped deep inside her heart finally exploded out of her mouth, ”Truth? What truth? The so-called truth was stepmother's way of covering up for Karen! Just like today's incident, you would choose to believe in her because it sounds and looks unfavorable on my side. But have you ever believed in me? Ever believed in this daughter that you raised?”

She bit her lips when she saw the hesitance in his eyes. Her fingers slowly let go of his sleeves as she cried and laughed hysterically, ”Since you guys already judged by the covers. Fine. I did it. I purposely called her out of the blues and wanted to kill her. I was the vicious one who dragged her to the dock and wished to drown her. At the end, I ate my own karma and almost died! You hear me? Happy now? Leave. All of you leave. I don't want to see any of your faces.”

Yin Zin Leung attempted to calm her down, ”Susu, it's not that I don't believe you.. It's just...” Words couldn't find its way out of his mouth, so he ended up leaving the room while hearing her pitiful cries. Somewhere inside his heart, he believed that she didn't do it, but all the evidence pointed towards her.

Her face was flushed with anger, disappointment, and heartbreak. Chen Mu was the only one who stayed by her side after Yin Zin Leung left. This was the first time Chen Mu had seen her cry uncontrollably and scream so loud as if one could hear her heart shatter. Wrinkling his clothes, Susu cried in his embrace for a very long time.
