104 4.28 The Police Entourage with Thailands Fines (1/2)

The next following day, the team of SPI members from Chon Buri had arrived before 7 am and had assembled before the hostel's driveway. The team leader had knocked on our bedroom doors to announce his arrival and had woken up the other two members that decided to stay back at the hostel.

We prepared ourselves and after a short breakfast of toasted bread with molten butter and jam and some coffee, we all headed to the police station about 5km away from the hostel.

Upon reaching there, the Station Master and some of his deputies were ready to welcome us and we entered their meeting room to discuss today's itinerary.

The first order of the day was:

1. Establish the wretched people on the POI list of the database as well as a wanted list from the Interpol.

2. Establish the license plates numbers that were given by Pornsak and me against their list of stolen vehicles or vehicles that had been used in a string of violent crimes.

3. Prepare a crew of excavators and forensic examiners to exhume the suspected remains of the two ladies named Mae and Nak.

4. Prepare some props to be used in their re-enactment for the **** and murders of the two ladies.

The process looked very intricate and later we discovered that the case had been closed for more than 5 years ago since there was no lead to the cold cases before.

A set of police testaments were passed around to the members of the SPI as well as Pornsak and me to review and countersign the statements that were given by us. Each statement given were different based on the contributions to the case.

The Benevolent Monk too had to sign a separate sheet of police liability forms stating that he would participate in cleansing the area and to beg for the deities help and to ward off evil and unknown spirits around.

After everyone had read their statements and questions were being clarified by the other members, they all countersigned the paperwork and handed it back to the Station Master.

By 8:30 am, we had readied ourselves and 2 reports came in from the deputies. They had located the last known whereabouts of the ringleader with a scar on his face and was wanted for other string of crimes related or not related to this current case.

There was one person within the suspects that had a connection with the ringleader and would be picked up by the police tactical team later on.

Another piece of news was to establish some of the owners of the license plate of the motorcycles that were used during that time. Chances were that the motorcycles had been disposed off or the plates came back as dubious plates. However, any lead would be crucial in this investigation and they attempted to solve it within 24 hours timeline. This was the action from Thailand's finest.

By 8:45 am, our group left in the rented van followed by a police patrol car and a van of experts. We arrived at the dilapidated archway of the abandoned house some 30 minutes later and stopped our vehicles there. The Benevolent Monk lit 3 joss sticks and proceeded to chant some prayers from the archway and stuck it on the ground. We then proceeded to drive into the abandoned house.

Upon reaching the grounds, the house looked the same as the first time we saw. A decayed roof was there, windows were simply detached from its hinges due to wear and tear. Some parts of the walls were drawn with graffiti and creepers lined the walls from the ground up. The house looked the same after we had last left it.

Everyone embarked and the Benevolent Monk proceeds to burn another 3 joss sticks and chanted some prayers. He then walked to the foot of the concrete crescent-shaped staircase and placed the joss sticks on the ground and ensuring no one accidentally knocks them over with their feet.

He then entered the house followed by the Station Master who happens to be the IO or Investigation Officer for this case along with some of the experts who brought along the props for the re-enactment. A few SPI crew came up along with their video cameras and still cameras to document the event.
