”Are you okay?” I checked on Death.

”Fine.”

Death shook his head clear and staggered to his feet. I stood next to him.

”Famine. My G.o.d.” His hands trembled. I hazard a guess with excitement.

I felt an approaching presence and faced the stairs.

Ryuu, Trix and Leinard entered the room. Ryuu had changed into his short sleeve white s.h.i.+rt, navy waistcoat and slacks. Trix and Leinard were still in their uniforms. I wondered if they had just returned from the labyrinth.

My heart fretted for Leinard's well being as I remembered his tight fists when he left the room back at the academy. I involuntarily gasped as their chi patterns and auras momentarily glowed before my eyes. Seeing Leinard's green aura over a vibrant cobalt made me sigh with relief as I recalled from somewhere that green was a healthy colour.

”What are you doing here?” Leinard calmly asked us.

I repeated his question back at him with my hands on my hips.

Trix explained that Ryuu had received an abnormal energy spike on his devices that he used to manage the security of the mansion.

Teacher by day and mansion manager every other time, Ryuu was a busy man.

”So, gentlemen, what are you doing here?” Trix eyed us suspiciously.

I stormed up to Trix and flicked his forehead, annoyed by those distrustful eyes of his.

”Famine! Why you?” He angrily grabbed me by my under s.h.i.+rt, but let me go with a gulp when he caught sight of my naked chest underneath.

I stood next to Death again.

”Men. Why are you here this late at night? It's almost midnight.” Trix voiced his question, more reasonably this time.

Death flashed me a sidewards look; sighed and explained that we were using the raw energy of the D-Train room to test a theory, which proved to be an unlikely phenomenon. He explained on our test results that made the men lost for words.

”Ryuu, can you dedicate your teaching time to Famine tomorrow?” Leinard soberly asked Ryuu.

”There'd be no one cover my cla.s.s. Remember, I'm a subst.i.tute?” Ryuu chewed his lip.

”I'll do it. Anyway, I have to teach him the ways of a Hīrā.” Trix volunteered with a snicker and a crack of his fingers. ”Can't have him kissing to heal all the time.”

Leinard nodded and made mention of readjusting resources to ensure Andy could perform labyrinth map duties.

Trix approached Death and whispered into his ear that made my brother look nervous. The Aueralius Brothers shared a knowing look before facing me with something of a decision.

”Famine will stay with me tonight. Right, Death?” Leinard signed and earnestly looked to Death for his confirmation.

Death heaved a sigh with a nod.

I gave the tacky captain a funny look. What did he say to my brother?

Trix flashed us a cheesy grin and grabbed a complaining Death by the arm to drag him back up the stairs.

Ryuu approached me and gave me an order to stand up straight. He pulled out a magnifying gla.s.s and waved it up and down my body. I gulped at the blue-green light s.h.i.+ning about the gla.s.s as he moved it around.

He pulled it away and held his hand over the gla.s.s with his eyes closed. A moment later, he removed his hand, so the gla.s.s stopped glowing, and pocketed it.

”You don't seem unhealthy. Darling, I can't help feel, you're a walking explosion.” Ryuu regarded me with his head tilted to one side and folded arms over his chest.
