Chapter 7

A terrible premonition is always spot on.

Today is my break from my duties, so I stayed at home helping everyone with the house duties, mainly cleaning the house and reading books while dear mother went to town for shopping.

In the early afternoon, I prepared some salted bean soup, grilled bacon, and beautifully  baked bread for everyone, and ate late lunch. Then, after that, I’m intending to make a jam by boiling the blueberry that we got from our neighbors sharing their harvest. Listening to the rumblings of the boiling pot, for some mysterious reason, made me calm.

Then to confirm the taste, “I guess I’ll have Urr taste it later” so I had thought, then the noise of the doorbell being continuously rang reached my ears.

Perhaps it’s the messenger from the capital?

So I a.s.sume, I put off the fire and removed the ap.r.o.n I was wearing, fixed my tea gold hair and went to the door. I don’t want the thing I’m working at to be disturbed but it can’t be helped.

I was thinking of finis.h.i.+ng the jam and ending the talk as soon as possible but, after opening the door…….. I want to shut it close again.

Was my stuttering voice able to reach the ears of the man standing in front of me…

I used to be taller than him in the past but now he’s tall enough for me to look up. Pure white coat that was designed by a golden lace that perfectly matched his pitch black glossy hair. A face that sends off a cold expression, a standing posture that emits an aura of elegance gained from training, there’s no doubt about it.

Peeking from his long bangs are b.l.o.o.d.y red eyes, slightly reflected by the light, are staring at me.

I get it, if that’s so, this is indeed worthy of the name “Demon Knight”

Almost forgetting to breath and without even blinking, I was just staring in fascination at the figure of Reiss that I haven’t seen for a long time.

“Wha!?”

It is Reiss who spun his mouth first. I wasn’t able to hear the first thing he said but the second one was clearly transmitted to me.
