Chapter 51 - The Bet (2/2)
Satsuki: ”They are an old powerhouse. They have attended every single winter cup since it's founding, somewhere along the line they got so famous that many of the talented individuals started to gather there, and they have maintained their reign as the oldest kings since then.”
They talked about basketball for half of the bus ride, and Shun decided to change the subject.
Shun: ”Enough about basketball, tell me about the cafe we are visiting. I can't even remember the name of the cafe.”
Satsuki then went on and on about parfaits, cakes, sweets, coffee, and the book library at the cafe. Just hearing about the cafe made Shun want to eat there, even if just a while ago, he was loathing on the damn cafe.
Satsuki: ”We are going to have so much fun at the cafe. I bet that you will forget about the dent on your wallet when you get there.”
Shun narrowed his eyes and denied her predictions.
Shun: ”Yeah, no way that's going to happen.”
-*-*-*-*-
Shun was wrong; he was totally in love with the cafe.
He couldn't stop eating the pasta that he had ordered, and after that was a blur. He joined Satsuki in ordering, and they started to share dishes.
Shun, whose savings were going down by half, was now close to being ninety percent spent, and he didn't mind one bit.
Shun: ”This is so good.”
Shun almost cried, eating the food.
Satsuki giggled at Shun, seeing him eating and enjoying the dishes wholeheartedly. Satsuki was worried that Shun wouldn't enjoy the time on their little outing.
Satsuki: 'He looks like he is having fun.'
Satsuki smiled at the sight of Shun enjoying, and as it was said, joy was contagious.
Shun turned his eyes to Satsuki to tell her to eat some of the cake he was having and saw that the most beautiful smile he had ever seen.
Shun didn't know at the time, but at this was the moment his feeling for Satsuki took a turn.
Shun forget all about the cake and just kept looking at her.
Satsuki, who felt his gaze looked up at him.
Satsuki: ”What is it?”
Shun took a couple of seconds to get himself together and replied.
Shun: ”Nothing. Here try this cake, it's so good.”
Shun and Satsuki had fun at the cafe. Satsuki even recommended a few books for Shun to read.
By the end of their day, both Shun and Satsuki were completely happy and satisfied with how their day went.
They reached their homes, laughing at something that Shun had said.
Satsuki: ”I had a lot of fun today, thank you for being such a good company, and I am sorry about you paying for all of it even if it was the part of the deal.”
Shun waved his hand and said.
Shun: ”No, it's fine. I started my day dreading it, but it was a great experience. Thanks to you, the day was amazing.”
They both said their goodbyes and entered their houses.
-*-*-*-*-
When Satsuki entered her home, she was greeted by her mother.
Mrs. Momoi: ”Welcome back. How was your date with Shun-chan?”
Satsuki almost tripped on her feet when she heard her mother calling their bet a date.
Satsuki: ”Mom! What are you talking about it was not a date?”
Mrs. Momoi tilted her head with her hand on her cheek.
Mrs. Momoi: ”Honey, are you sure that it wasn't a date?”
Satsuki: ”No, it wasn't a date. What makes you think it was?”
Mrs. Momoi explained her reasoning to her daughter.
Mrs. Momoi: ”You both went out to have lunch, correct?”
Satsuki nodded.
Satsuki: ”Yes, we went to the cafe I always wanted to go.”
Mrs. Momoi continued.
Mrs. Momoi: ”Did you enjoy yourselves?”
Satsuki smiled and said.
Satsuki: ”It was amazing. Shun-kun is fun to spend time with.”
Mrs. Momoi: ”And, he paid for everything.”
Satsuki: ”Yes, that was part of the bet.”
Mrs. Momoi looked at her daughter with a smile.
Mrs. Momoi: ”Dear, bet, or not. That is essentially a lunch date.”
Satsuki thought for a moment and recalled her day. She had dressed up for the occasion, she had gone out with a boy, and she had fun.
As she thought of this, her face became redder and redder.
Satsuki: 'Oh my god. I just went on my first date!'
Mrs. Momoi smiled gently as she looked at her daughter, finally realizing that she had her first date.
Mrs. Momoi: 'I have to tell this to her father. My girl is growing up.'
That was a mistake as Mr. Momoi wept himself to sleep, saying that his girl was growing too fast.
