Chapter 51 - The Bet (1/2)

Shun was getting ready to go out; he wore a royal blue jacket over a white shirt and a pair of black chinos.

Shun got ready and sat at the desk in his room, looking at all his savings laid out on his desk.

He wanted nothing more than to bang his head on the table as he thought about the day in front of him.

Shun: ”Why did I agree to the bet? What was I thinking, she is Momoi Satsuki. She can predict the future of growth; of course, she will score excellent marks.”

Shun thought to the meeting that he and Satsuki had a week ago.

Shun was in the living room of the Momoi household, and in his hands was a sheet issued by his school, which showed the marks he had scored in the final examination of the second trimester. In front of him was Satsuki with a similar sheet of paper in her hands.

She was smiling gently at Shun. Shun felt overwhelming confidence in that smile.

Shun gritted his teeth and said quite impatiently.

Shun: ”Let's get this over with it. We will exchange the mark sheet, none of the one subjects at a time crap.”

Satsuki's smile widened a little more, and she said.

Satsuki: ”Okay, if that is what you want. Whatever you want.”

The confidence in her voice made Shun feel doubt about his victory.

Shun turned his sheet upside down and slid it across the table, Satsuki followed the same.

Shun gulped as he picked up Satsuki's grade sheet, he looked at Satsuki before seeing the results and found that she was looking at him with the smile.

Shun narrowed his eyes and turned them back to the mark sheet. He flipped the paper and saw Satsuki's marks.

Shun was shocked, Satsuki had scored ninety-five plus marks in all her subjects except one, and in that subject, she had ninety-plus marks.

On the other hand, Shun's marks were in the ninety to the ninety-five range. Shun had lost in every single subject.

Satsuki giggled and said.

Satsuki: ”It seems it's a wipeout.”

Shun looked up at Satsuki, and at that moment, Satsuki clicked a photo of Shun's devastated face.

Shun: ”Hey! Why are you taking a photo of me?”

Satsuki tilted her head and replied.

Satsuki: ”Hmm, Dai-chan asked me to click a photo of you if I win, something about the revenge of the fallen, and send.”

Shun wasn't able to even offer any resistance before Satsuki sent the photo to Aomine.

Shun slumped in his seat and looked at his l.a.p.

Shun: 'Is this karma? Am I experiencing karma for torturing Aomine, and it is biting me back through Satsuki-chan, who I used to torture him.'

Shun laughed at the cruel hand that fate dealt out to him.

Shun was brought out of his trance by a snap of Satsuki's fingers.

Shun looked at her and his eyes wide. Satsuki had donned her business face.

Satsuki: ”Now let's talk business, my choice of restaurant is a cafe named Cafe de l'ambre.

I will be emailing you the dishes that I will be eating at the cafe, so please prepare the money accordingly. We will be meeting on the first Friday of our winter vacations, so please keep your schedule clear.”

On the same day, he got Satsuki's email about the food she was going to eat, and the money he had to bring, including taxes.

Shun had cried himself to sleep that day, thinking about his hard-earned savings going out in a single day.

Shun called Satsuki's phone to ask her if she was ready. The phone rang three times before Satsuki picked up.

Satsuki: ”Hello.”

Shun: ”Satsuki-chan, are you ready?”

Satsuki: ”Yeah, I am ready. Please meet me outside in two minutes.”

Shun: ”Alright. I will meet you outside.”

Shun got down from his room, checked the house for any lights, took the keys from the key hanger, and left the house.

He got in front of Satsuki's house, and in about twenty seconds of waiting, Satsuki came out.

Satsuki was wearing a white cardigan, light brown shorts, light-colored leggings, brown high boots, and a red dotted scarf.

Shun's eyebrows went up without him knowing, and he compliments flew out of his mouth.

Shun: ”You look good today.”

Satsuki raised one eyebrow and asked Shun a question in a fake angry voice.

Satsuki: ”You mean, I don't usually look good.”

Shun sweatdropped at that and cleared his throat to explain.

Shun: ”Of course not, I didn't mean that. You just look especially pretty today.”

Satsuki smiled at Shun and said.

Satsuki: ”I am just messing with you. Thank you for the compliment.”

But at the same time, she thought.

Satsuki: 'Pretty, huh.'

Shun sighed in relief when Satsuki smiled. He didn't want her to upset, he didn't want her to order more things at the cafe, and jack up the already high bill.

Shun found Satsuki a seat, and they talked on the journey for the whole ride.

Shun: ”Rakuzan High School won their second championship in three years, it was already impressive for them to win three consecutive winter cup championsh.i.p.s. They are sweeping all the competitions with amazing dominance.”

Satsuki had also heard about Rakuzan and their performance in the high school scene.
