Chapter 57 (2/2)
Li Ang remained calm despite almost being skewered by the bone spurs. He took a shotgun out of his backpack, held it steadily to his torso, and shot upward at the sky.
The strong recoil changed his direction once again. Li Ang’s body brushed the bone spurs on Zou Zhengze’s arm and landed on the ground. Before he could stand and find his footing, Zou Zhengze had thrown another punch.
This punch fell like mountains collapsing and waves crashing.
With no time left to evade, Li Ang bent down and punched the concrete floor of the high-rise balcony he was on.
The balcony, which was missing a slab that had been torn off by Zou Zhengze, was already on the verge of collapsing. The ripple energy of Li Ang’s punch made the cracks on the balcony’s floor expand and the whole balcony finally collapsed with a boom.
Zou Zhengze suddenly lost his footing and balance, slipping down from the balcony and falling into the building’s corridor.
The fist that was meant to pulverize Li Ang landed off to the side, punching a huge hole in the stone wall of the corridor.
A cloud of dust was obscuring his field of vision as Li Ang held a dagger, silently sprinted forward, and stabbed Zou Zhengze’s chest.
Ding…
The dagger’s blade stabbed the center of Zou Zhengze’s palm with a screech. Li Ang’s hand shook violently and his entire arm went numb.
Meanwhile, the red-black runes on Zou Zhengze twisted and coiled like tadpoles. His size increased once more as his skin shimmered with a dark red sheen.
His defense was not broken. Even the skin had not been successfully pierced. The strong body the Yin-Yang Diabolism had created allowed Zou Zhengze to ignore attacks of this standard.
“Weak,” the demon commented coolly. His figure flashed and his muscular leg lifted silently and kneed Li Ang’s chest.
Crack…
The bulletproof steel plates on the CQB bulletproof shirt shattered and flew everywhere, deeply embedding themselves into the concrete walls of the narrow corridor.
Despite having a rippling energy defense layer, Li Ang felt his chest go numb and fainted as a result. He was sent flying back like a ragdoll, his back slamming against the wall of the corridor where a corner was formed.
Boom.
The ceramic tiles on the wall shattered in a spiderweb fashion, creating a human-shaped dent. If one stood outside the building, one would be able to see a bump on the wall.
The 72-hour time limit the system gave was hinting at the fact that he could work with the police and state.
He should have utilized the power of the State Apparatus and continuously chased after Zou Zhengze over these three days while finding a window of opportunity to kill him. He was not meant to face him in this manner.
There was no way he could fend him off.
Dong, dong, dong!
The brawny, huge body of the demon charged forward in the narrow corridor, making the floor shake. Anything in his way, be it rubble, chairs, tables, or even walls, was crushed without exception.
Li Ang stood up with great difficulty. The two human faces on Zou Zhengze’s chest were still murmuring indistinctly.
As the demon ran faster and faster, the eyes on the two human faces grew even brighter and clearer. Their expressions became even angrier and their voices increased in volume.
“Come, come, come…”
The human faces opened their eyes wide as they hollered maliciously as though they were calling for Li Ang to stop resisting, accept his fate, and willingly become one with Zou Zhengze.
