19 THE CHASE (1/2)

Mu Lingxi stared with her eyes wide open when she realize what trouble she has to face.

As she finally got a chance to have a closer look on the figure that was approaching her in fast speed, her heart almost stop beating due to fright.

What she saw is not her cute little black cat Janus, but instead she saw a running wild boar. This boar had two sharp tusk glowing like a hot lava. It makes the appearance of the boar more frightening. On its forehead lies a crystal that looks like a ruby and as big as a fingernail.

It was running with an alarming speed and was about to approach her. For the first time in her two life times, Mu Lingxi felt the kick of adrenaline rush. With a sudden jolt in her body, she sprint and run as fast as her feet could take her.

”WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! JAAAAANUUUUUUUSSSS!!!!!!” she screamed at the top of her lungs.

”Oh geez... I don't want to end up as a meat paste or as a snack for this beast. Janus where are you?!!!”

Mu Lingxi kept on sending signals to Janus through their mental link in hope that he would come and rescue her.

She did not dare look at her back for the fear of seeing the wild boar running after her. She run as fast as she could, tripping over some rocks and fallen logs here and there. As Lingxi continues to move forward, she realized that she was running too deep in the wilderness.

As she run for her life, she notice flashes of light every now and then. This flashes was accompanied by small explosion but instead of heat, she felt freezing air. She assumed that the running wild boar behind her was the one shooting the freezing bomb or whatever they called it.

Soon, trees of large trunks with a girth as big as the size of the waist of ten brawny men combined, started to appear one by one on her line of sight.

When she saw that the situation was starting to get hopeless since it will become more impossible for someone to save her now, Lingxi panicked. She was running like a headless chicken and due to her panic, she did not notice the big tree standing on her way. She collided to its body and fell in her butt with a tump. Afraid to get caught by the wild boar, she immediately scrambled her way up the tree.

She climb hastily, just like how she used to climb any fruit bearing trees before in her previous life. She urge herself to climb high on the tree to save herself.
