Chapter 28 - XXVII (1/2)
”WHY ARE YOU HERE?” Laia hissed at the asshat when her mother had her back turned towards them for she was preparing another meal. ”And how the fuck do you know where I live? Are you a stalker now?”
The asshat dramatically places his hand on his chest. ”That's rude of you to say, Laia!”
”Laia!” The girl's mother glared daggers at her daughter. ”Don't be rude to your friend!”
Friend?! Laia couldn't restrain a grimace and looked away quickly, not wanting her mother to reprimand her further.
The older woman smiles at the asshat as she places the new dish she cooked in front of him. ”Do forgive my daughter,” She glares at her child again. ”She can be a bit rowdy during the weekend.”
”Oh, rowdy,” The asshat grins at Laia. ”I definitely agree,”
Laia rolls her eyes and instead fixated her gaze on the hotdog she was eating. Too much stress caused by the asshat's presence would only cause her to have premature wrinkles!
Her mother and the asshat continued on their conversation. It was almost as if the asshat had known Laia's mother for a long time already, and if someone random would see the three of them, they would probably come up with the conclusion that the asshat was the older woman's child instead of Laia.
The girl scoffs. It didn't go unnoticed by the asshat, who turned to her with a sort of mischievous gleam in his eyes. ”You were saying, Laia?”
The way the asshat said her first name gave Laia shivers. Shivers from both disgust and annoyance, mind you. It's definitely not due to how velvet-like the asshat's voice was nor because of how he even smirked lightly as he looked her up and down.
Not that Laia minded how the asshat probably judged her current fashion sense. Was she supposed to wear designer clothes like he probably does at the moment when she was supposed to be sleeping the entire day?
”Why are you here?” Laia bluntly asks. Her mother glares at her again, but Laia ignores her and continued staring at the asshat who seemed to be entertained by their mother-daughter dynamic.
The asshat pouts. ”Am I not allowed to visit my friend?”
Laia scowls which made the asshat raise his hands in surrender. ”Okay, okay,”
He stood up from his seat and returned with a paper in his hand. He quickly hands it to the girl. ”Ma'am Anne changed some of the dialogue for the play--”
”A play?!” The older woman behind the asshat claps her hands in glee. ”I always knew my daughter was made for the stage!”
Her excitement was the opposite of what her daughter felt which was annoyance. Her black irises scanned the script for the revisions.
Laia couldn't help but frown at how their adviser seemed to make her character turn from having a melancholic view on things to someone completely depressed.
How was she supposed to completely change the way she's supposed to act in just two days?
The girl was also quick to notice how their adviser had decided to keep Brie, anyway. There had been a few changes on her lines as well.
Looks like instead of falling in love with Jake's character, Brie's character will just be friends with him in the end.
”I'm guessing you're alright with how she changed the relationship between Brie and Jake's characters?”
Laia tilted her head to the side to look at the asshat who had his own copy on his hands. She nods. ”It's definitely better than all the awkwardness,”
The asshat nods in return. ”Yeah,”
”I'm guessing you have to talk alone?” The older woman stands up from her seat and playfully grins. ”I'll be in the kitchen if you need me, but I'm sure I'm merely interrupting what conversation you have in mind that requires only the two of you,”
”Thanks, Mrs. Lopez,” The asshat smiles at the older woman, showing off his dimples in the process.
Laia opens her mouth to retort, but the asshat quickly stands in front of her to cover how she reacted.
The girl's mother, deeming that the two are good friends and would have a great conversation, leaves with a satisfied hum.
The moment the older woman closed the door behind her, Laia was quick to glare at the asshat. ”Not that I don't appreciate how you came here unannounced and stalkerish--”
Asshat shakes his head, laughing. ”Wow, what a way to say thank you--”
Laia scoffs. ”You do realize it is stalkerish to suddenly visit somebody's house unannounced, right? And I'm not even bringing up the issue of how you even know my house in the first place-”
”I took you home just two days ago--”
”That's not the point!”
The short-haired girl was very tempted to rip out all her hair due to the growing frustration she felt whenever she had a conversation with the asshat.
Especially a conversation just like this one. The asshat seemed to be delighted with how Laia was losing control, his lips curling up into another one of his annoying grins. ”Then what's the point?”
