Chapter 30 - How Do You Even Understand? (2) (2/2)
”Yes, they are a good batch.”
The owner of the voice was seated at the back of the auditorium, in a scholars robe and smiling in a jolly manner.
”You know, that some in the teaching faculty despise you. I wouldn't be surprised, what you just taught could be the best lecture I have ever witnessed.”
”Listen, Head Teacher Winston seems to be quite annoyed at you. I advise caution when dealing with him, he's a crafty man.”
Simon leaned his back on the podium, tilting his head to the right as he sighed. ”So what if he's annoyed, I don't have any personal connections to him. So he won't do anything.” Simon laughed.
”I still advise caution, he may not target you, but he might just go after your students.”
”That's why Haven has policies in place. If he even tries the slightest of transgressions, then he will be made redundant, no?”
”There is even a clause in Haven's rules that state that if a teacher is caught abusing a student, they may be sent to a penitentiary for an undisclosed amount of time.” Simon sighed.
”I will keep an eye on him, thank you for the warning though.”
”Anytime, the faculty is for nurturing students. Doing otherwise is a crime against Haven.”
Simon finished preparing his lecture notes for the next day and left the auditorium with all of his notes and belongings. After a day full of spontaneous events, Simon actually wanted to just do nothing. He d.e.s.i.r.ed stuffing his head into a pillow and sleep for 12 hours, he had already resolved himself to put a 'Do not disturb' sign on his door. He had run around like an idiot for the entire day and now he could finally 'chill'.
”Before you go and rest up, I also believe my PP-81G!” The man laughed.
'Of course he knows, the legend of PP-819 is one to be amazed at after all. But how did-' Simon quickly looked back, but the man was no longer there, he was gone. It was as if Simon had just spoken to nothing.
<kiddo, you'd better work on your 'battle moves' soon. Even those students of yours have some. Wouldn't hurt to consider creating a few>
”He's part of the system. Another voice in my head.”
Simon had learned a few things in the time that he had spent in this world. He had learnt that the novel he had written could only be used as guidelines to what one should expect, not what will happen. He had also learnt that his characters were indeed different to what he wrote. It felt to Simon that this world was indeed real, but a lingering feeling always stood in his way. A feeling that told him that he doesn't belong.
