Vol 9 Chapter 71 (2/2)

Just a bit more, just a bit more. Lu Xiang, cavalry troops, and everyone, hang on!

“Yaa!” I yelled as I continued the onslaught against Guan Yu, ignoring my sweat-drenched hair flying about, with hope burning in my heart. My arms felt like lead but I cannot give Guan Yu any leeway to notice what the cavalry were doing.

“Yaa!”

“Little sister!”

Just then, Zhang Fei let out a cry and Guan Yu yelled as she looked over. I did as well and saw that Zhang Fei’s spear was knocked away by Lu Xiang, exposing all of her vitals and her head.

“Little sister!”

“You’re not going anywhere!”

Guan Yu raised her glaive and made to head over but naturally I could not let her go and stabbed–

*Ka*! The spear broke and pain a.s.saulted my arms which trembled uncontrollably. When I looked down, I saw that my spear was split in 2 by Guan Yu.

The glaive and a pair of enraged eyes flashed in my eyes. When I blinked, Guan Yu was gone. In that instant, I could feel that my heart stopped and I involuntarily gulped as I threw away my broken spear with my hands which trembled from the sheer strength of the attack and fear as I drew my sword.

After hacking down the incoming enemies, I looked over at where Zhang Fei was and chased after Guan Yu. From how things look, it’s impossible for Guan Yu to catch up. There is still more than 50 paces between them. Even if she forces the horse to gallop at top speed with a wide pace, she still has to cover 30 paces at least.

“Lu Xiang! Do it!” I yelled out to Lu Xiang when I realised this.

“Haa!” Lu Xiang roared as she pulled back her spear before Zhang Fei could recover and aimed for her chest with a 2-handed stab.

“Don’t think you can do it!” “Haa!”

Un! Just as the attack was about to connect, a longsword came out in front of Zhang Fei and blocked the spear. At the same time, the other person burst into the scene like a whirlwind and stabbed a gleaming blade at Lu Xiang.

“Wu!” Lu Xiang groaned as she was forced back. The whirlwind slipped itself between Lu Xiang and the other a.s.sailant and stopped the other a.s.sailant’s horse. When I looked at the 2 newcomers, I saw that one had their face covered by thick, black dirt while the other had a barbarian headdress on but was wearing plain robes. Could it be that they have barbarian reinforcements?

Kuh, we failed huh?! I was very unsatisfied and looked to the side where I saw Guan Yu not too far from where I was. However, it seems like Guan Yu was concerned about Zhang Fei’s status which meant that I might be able to catch her off guard now.

As I thought so, I looked to the other side.

Un?! The cavalry had bore its way deeply into enemy ranks by now and there were numerous “旷” and “翔” flags standing behind enemy lines. The surrounding enemies were also diminis.h.i.+ng in number and our side’s officers were all gathered around.

I looked at Guan Yu and looked back at everyone behind me. I have made a lot of mistakes today, I should refrain from making more out of my hastiness. As I thought so, I closed my eyes and steeled myself before yelling toward the troops behind me–

“Everyone! Charge over there with me!” I swung my reins down hard and galloped in the opposite direction where Guan Yu was headed after I yelled.

“Lu Xiang!” I yelled to Lu Xiang but she did not listen and continued fighting with the 2 newcomers with Guan Yu fast approaching her. If it came down to a 1-on-3 fight, she would definitely not prevail.

When I took a closer look, I saw that Lu Xiang was mad with rage. Does that fellow have no intention of escaping!?

“Lu Xiang!!” I yelled out without thinking, “Your elder brother is waiting for you on the way back!”

“Ah…” Lu Xiang finally heard me and stopped in a daze for a single moment before charging over to where I was. When I saw this, I hurriedly led the troops towards the hole to break through the surround.

“Ah! Don’t think you can get away!” The whirlwind woman yelled when she saw this and sprinted over rapidly

I turned back and saw that she had leapt into the air and was somersaulting as she slashed down. Even though she was not on a horse, a single leap was enough for her to close the distance between us.

“Yaa!”

When I turned back again, the blade was already at the tip of my nose.
