Ye Sichen nodded, but his eyes fell on the woman in bed, “She has left.”

“Did she inject a sedative for you?” The woman in a white coat asked Ye Sichen again.

“Yes. It was injected into the artificial skin covered on the surface of my arms. She didn’t tell it.” Ye Sichen handed the artificial skin to the woman, “Mi Ke’er, check it and see if there is something else in the sedative.”

Ye Sichen went towards the bed, and asked the woman lying on the bed with concern, “How are you feeling? Is your chest still painful?”

He sat and held her slender hand.

The woman was Xia Nuan. She was not dead because of the bulletproof vest, but her chest got injured. Ye Sichen wanted Xia Nuan to break up with Yuezhao Organization, so he released the news of Xia Nuan’s death.

This was also for protecting Xia Nuan from being aggrieved by Luo Lan. She wore a face mask in order not to be recognized. But there was only Mi Ke’er, children and Ye Sichen, so she simply took off the face mask.

“I’m fine, or I wouldn’t tell them stories like this.” She looked at children with affection, and then, her eyes turned to Ye Sichen, and she gave a loving smile.

Ye Sichen held her hand tightly, and kissed her on the cheek, “You should take a good rest. Don’t worry. I’ll protect you.”

“Mrs. Baili sent Luo Lan to deal with you. What’s your plan to fight back?”

“I need to see what she is going to do. Then I’ll deal with it.”

“You must be careful. Or, it will be dangerous.”

“Don’t worry. For the sake of you and children, I’ll be cautious.” He tightened his hands.

“I don’t mind it.” Xia Nuan returned her mind. She opened the fairytale book, and started to tell stories for children.

Mi Ke’er sat aside silently, and subconsciously touched her belly.

No one knew that she was pregnant with Lacy’s baby. But Lacy was gone. Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan had been sending people to look for him all the time, but just as he vanished from the earth, there was no news about him.

Ye Sichen said to Mi Ke’er that Lacy must still be alive and told her not to worry. But the more indifferent she pretended to be, the more anxious she was for Lacy’s safety.
