Chapter 30 - I Must Be Him! (2/2)
Luo Nan helped Dong Ci out of the hospital, his face shining with tenderness. The special nurse looked at their receding figures and thought, ‘What a lucky woman!’
The car cruised down the road with its windows open. Dong Ci stuck her head out of the window and looked at the crowds and high buildings on the roadside. On the surface, everything remained unchanged. But in essence, everything was changing.
Dong Ci went into the familiar house. The man by her side was her fiancé. They were familiar with the smells of each other’s bodies.
Luo Nan was so happy that he picked Dong Ci up and spun her around. “Honey, you are home at last. I hope you can eat more so that you can regain your good, full figure. Otherwise, you won’t look good in the wedding dress.”
“Wedding dress?”
“Yes. Have you forgotten that you promised to marry me?” Luo Nan laid Dong Ci on the sofa in the living room.
“Oh.” Dong Ci nodded, “Now I remember.”
Luo Nan’s phone rang. He went to the balcony to answer the phone. After a long phone conversation, he hung up and hurried back to Dong Ci. “I’m sorry. I have some important business to deal with. So I have to go now. I will come back to have dinner with you two hours later.”
After Luo Nan left, Dong Ci dialed Chen Qi’s number but all she heard was a recording, “Sorry! The number you dialed is out of service…”
‘Has his phone run out of credit? Oh well, it doesn’t matter anyway,’ she thought.
When you really wanted to find a person you cared much about, even if you lost contact with him, you would do everything you could to reestablish contact with him. When you didn’t want to approach someone, even if you had his number, you wouldn’t call him and say a kind word to him.
Two hours later, Luo Nan came back. They went out to eat Indian food that Dong Ci liked. She looked quietly at Luo Nan who was sitting opposite with a gentle smile and a spot of curry paste on his lips. She could clearly see the warmth and gentleness in his eyes. Obviously, her fiancé, Luo Nan really loved her. He was a dependable companion.
Dong Ci felt a sense of satisfaction. The corners of her mouth rose slightly and her eyes glimmered with happiness, on the surface at least.
