Chapter 30 - I Must Be Him! (1/2)
“I’m going back to my body.” Dong Ci bowed to Black Emissary and White Emissary, and continued, “So sorry for giving you so much trouble.
Black Emissary began to speak before White Emissary, “We have been fired.”
“Why?” Dong Ci asked.
White Emissary replied helplessly, “Because you have changed your fate in the previous life. But it doesn’t matter. We have a lot of money, and we will resume our positions soon.”
As a saying went, “Money makes the mare go.” In the nether world, money was also almighty.
When Dong Ci woke up, she saw Luo Nan sitting by the bed. She had been in a coma for such a long time that she was now nothing but skin and bones. Dong Ci was taken aback by her own skinny body. The spring had come and peach blossoms were all open in the bright sunlight. Bees were humming around from flower to flower. It was really a lovely day. Dong Ci finally recovered from the vegetative state.
“You’re finally awake!” Luo Nan shouted, “Doctor, please come here…”
A doctor came in and said in a calm voice, “Congratulations on waking up. In the past, many patients in our hospital woke up from the vegetative state like you.”
“I want to go home.” Dong Ci struggled to sit up and tried to get out of bed. Since she came back from the jaws of death, she had been only allowed to eat liquid food. Luo Nan grabbed hold of her arm and stopped her, “Take your time. I’m going to buy some milk and bread for you. You will have a check-up soon. I’m afraid that you will get hungry after that.”
With that, Luo Nan went out. Dong Ci turned to the nurse and asked, “Did anyone else come to visit me when I was in the coma?”
The nurse answered, “Yes, it was a man. He always came to see you late at night. But he doesn’t seem to have been here in the past month.”
‘Chen Qi! It must be him!’ Dong Ci thought.
A general physical checkup required patients to strip off all their clothes. Dong Ci hated the general physical checkup. She was particularly disgusted to be touched by middle-aged male doctors because their eyes and fingers were as cold as their stethoscopes.
After the examination, the doctor said, “You are well enough to leave the hospital. But you still have to recuperate. So you’d better stay at home and take a good rest.”
