16 A Grand Tip (1/2)
”You look like you showered in cream sauce.”
She sent Lucas a glare. ”I did shower in it.” Then a loud sigh escaped her lips. ”Why did I even s.h.i.+eld him. It was the stupidest thing to do. I wasn't thinking properly.”
Lucas and Yoona were at the back of the restaurant. The back door lead to a narrow alleyway, where many of the workers went to during their breaks for some fresh air. While Yoona was sent out to relieve stress after that whole cheating situation, coincidentally Lucas was having his break. The two kept each other company as the sun began to set.
After the disaster caused by the cheating boyfriend, the other girl, Inha quickly left afterwards with her friend. Since someone had to pay for the dinner, the boyfriend quickly swiped his card into the machine. He left quickly afterwards as well. But he didn't fail to send Yoona a wink though, quite shameless for someone who was caught cheating.
Yoona sat on a small, blue, plastic stool while Lucas kept his back against the wall.
”Well, was the shower worth the money? He must've tipped you well.” Lucas commented.
Yoona mischievously smiled. When she thought back to the receipt, she couldn't help but feel giddy. ”Forty percent tip. It's the most money I've ever made from a customer.”
Lucas raised an eyebrow. ”d.a.m.n. That's a lot.”
”Over a hundred in tips,” Yoona replied proudly.
”And you're complaining about covering him because...?”
Yoona shrugged, her fingers touched a strand of hair. To her displeasure, it was covered in sauce. ”Because having sticky hair sucks.”
Lucas chuckled. He tossed the white clothe he prepared to Yoona. ”It does. Clean up.”
”Yes sir,” she replied.
When did he grab the towel? She didn't realize he had one on him. She took the cloth and began to dab the sticky spots of her hair. Though a shower would be greater help, this was the best she could do with the materials she had right now.
Yoona chuckled as she thought back to the event. ”You know he also gave me his number as well? It was astonis.h.i.+ng to how he had the audacity to hit on me after I witnessed how much of a tool he was. You have to have a never-ending pool of arrogance for that.”
Lucas laughed bitterly. He looked up to the sky, the colors reflecting in his eyes. ”Guys like him make the rest of us look like s.h.i.+t.”
”It's okay. We all know you're a softie,” she teased.
He rolled his eyes, a subtle blush appearing on his face. He coughed to cover it up. Luckily, Yoona didn't notice. ”f.u.c.k you.”
At first, due to his personality, Yoona had thought Lucas was a p.r.i.c.k. He was always rude and would comment on the small mistakes she would make while working. As someone who'd been running around for hours, tending customers, it was really annoying to hear him say such rude remarks.
Luckily, everything changed once a certain incident happened in the restaurant. While tending a customer, one of them began yelling at her for 'making the wrong order'. Although Yoona was sure that she didn't make a mistake, the customer kept persisting. Everything went downhill once the customer became physical and tried to hit her. Luckily, Lucas exited the kitchen in time and stopped Yoona from getting hara.s.sed.
In the end, Lucas helped unravel that the customer was lying and started the argument to get a free meal. After that day, Yoona realized that there was more to Lucas and they soon became friends.
