Chapter 28 (1/2)

Eternal Life (永生) Ch. 28

A Fight of Life and Death

“Hua’la!”

Fang Han’s sword pierced through a desert bandit’s scaly armor, completely stabbing a hole in their heart. Meanwhile, the bandit’s strike only left a blade mark on Fang Han’s magic clothes.

Killing!

Suffering blows!

Taking lives!

Dodging and evading!

Killing again!

Fang Han rushed into the middle of the desert bandits, his body agile like a monkey, his sword flowing like a stream of stars. His qi was cruel and violent, and becoming increasingly denser. He was also gaining more and more combat experience through killing.

This was true combat, and not a test. It was vastly different from his spars with Hong Yi.

Swords cut and arrows flew amid the hundred thousand desert bandits. Any ounce of hesitation, and one would immediately be killed on the spot. In such a ma.s.s, there was no luck at all.

What did it mean to temper one’s will to fight?

Obviously, it meant to fight on the battlefield, to face thousands of soldiers and horses, to enter the thicket of blades and arrows without fear. The desert bandits were a very fierce army, each bandit armed with a sword. Facing such a fierce army, especially by oneself, truly tested one’s courage, wisdom, strength, and luck.

This was Fang Han’s first time killing actual living people. At the beginning, there was some getting used to it, but once a desert bandit’s sliced across his neck, nearly cutting off half his face, his nervousness disappeared, only leaving behind killing intent. Piercing through vital areas, dodging, he, like a sharp sword, took the lives of others.

One life after another disappeared under his sword. With each bandit that fell, Fang Han’s spirit became more sensitive, feeling the qi of the spirits around him.

Fang Han himself seemed to have become death, unendingly harvesting the lives of those around him

The desert bandits who had surrounded these Yu’hua School disciples contained at least two thousand people, all of them fierce and vicious, and numbed to the feeling of killing people. Their curved blades flashed beautifully, as if cutting gold and breaking jade. There was a fair number of experts among the bandits.

[TL: This author uses expert quite loosely, sorry if they just get wrecked]

When they had rushed over to kill, their momentum was enough to cause everyone to freeze.

What were martial experts most afraid of?

They were most afraid of being surrounded by an army and killed. Against thousands of soldiers and horses, many martial arts were unable to be used, as swords and arrows have no eyes.

Although Fang Han’s strength had long since been drawn out, he was still much more overbearing than a regular Divine Realm expert. Facing this constant danger, if not for his ‘Devil Beheading Sword’, which cut iron like mud due to being imbued with a sharp edge magic and his body protecting magic clothes which couldn’t be pierced by swords nor arrows, he would have been hacked to death more than ten times already.

Even so, his hands and neck were covered with many bruised lines where a sword had hit.

Fortunately, his body had refined the ‘Nine Aperture Golden Pellet’, making his recovery ability very great. Even without a ‘Blood Stopping Talisman’, he could immediately staunch his wounds. As for Hong Yi and Liu Kang who were beside him, the ‘Jade Blood Stopping Talismans’ upon their bodies unendingly flashed with radiance as the talismans repaired their light wounds.

‘Jade Blood Stopping Talismans’ were refined from many spiritual medicines. Inside, they were filled with magic powers. Upon being circulated through one’s body, the medicinal powers inside would be turned into steam, and apply itself to the skin and muscles, staunching the bleeding, repelling poisonous qi, and helping one recover their strength.

“Fang Han! Watch out!”

‘Qiang!’

Just when Fang Han had become slightly distracted, a curved blade, like the moon in the sky, suddenly appeared in front of his eyes. It was as if evil spirits suddenly escaped from their imprisonment, as if moonlight was falling from the sky – unable to be stopped.

‘Weng weng weng weng weng.’

Fang Han only felt the hair on his neck suddenly stand up as he watched the blade fall towards his neck, about to take his head from his body; he had no chance to react.

Right at this critical moment, Hong Yi suddenly struck out her sword. Like lightning piercing through the clouds, she managed to deflect the curved sword, saving Fang Han from his crisis.

“Just who is it that is using such high level martial arts! Especially the curved blade, it feels as if it’s a bewitching spirit of evil light. This kind of martial arts can only appear after one has trained to the tenth level of G.o.dly Transformation!”

Upon training to the G.o.dly Transformation level, one’s martial arts would be even closer to the pinnacle; one’s skills would become infused with spiritual powers. With just one fist, one could give off illusions, confusing the enemy’s spirit.

By this level, one would be just steps from breaking through to the Divine Realm.

The desert bandits scattered like the rus.h.i.+ng tide, leaving behind a full ground of corpses.

‘Dong! Dong! Dong! Dong! Dong!’

No one knew who had struck the war drums, but suddenly, a desert bandit wearing white clothes appeared within Fang Han’s line of sight. Today, among the many desert bandits that he had killed, Fang Han had only seen ones wearing black or yellow clothes which matched the colors of the desert. Only this one bandit wore white clothes, which surprisingly, were devoid of any trace of blood and dirt.

“Yu’hua disciples are truly extraordinary! You guys retreat, I’ll bring up the rear!”

A magnetic sounding hoa.r.s.e voice came out from the mouth of the white clothed desert bandit. Only now did Fang Han realize that this white clothed desert bandit was very young. However, the bandit’s face was covered by their veil, thus causing Fang Han to be unable to see their true face.
