Chapter 151 Give yourself a chance (2/2)

”Mom, I am now alright, okay? It's not your fault for agreeing to an arranged marriage—that's just how it was always done… it's not that I didn't like it as well. Also, whatever action I did in the past, I am to blame -- not you or Dad.” Lexi uttered her reassurance in one go.

After her suicide attempt, Lexi hasn't talked about it with her parents and neither did they. But now, she had the chance to say it to her mother.

”Lexi…” Lillian Yang paused as she meekly smiled upon hearing her daughter's comfort. She continued as she raised her right hand and placed it on Lexi's heart, ”What I'm saying is, give Ethan a chance—give yourself a chance and let your heart know what love is. It's not wrong to open up your heart and love again; whether it was too soon, just don't the past be a hinder to what's coming.”

Lexi bit her lips as her mother read her like she was an opened book. Indeed, probably, the problem with her right now was, she convinced herself that he was just a friend and settled there. Although he was exerting much effort that she never knew a man would to it for her, Lexi often argued with herself.

Looking straight at her mother's gentle eyes, Lexi didn't respond but only smiled back.

”Go, Mama Yang~! Shove Mr. Main task to her with all your might~” On the side, Churu cheered as she danced and somersault midair. By the looks of it, she only needed some pompoms and cheering clothes to be a captain in a cheering squad.

[Yang Company: Conference Room]

Frederick Yang thoroughly studied the documents and unhurriedly flipped each page after reading the contract. After some time, he finally reached the last page and when he was done, he placed down the documents on the long table.

Looking on his side where an icy, inexpressive man perched, Frederick Yang cleared his throat before breaking his silence. ”Mr. Liu, it was a tempting contract and if I think of it as a businessman, I will sign it as it will benefit our company greatly.” He paused as he kept his heart at bay.

When he finally calmed down, he resumed as the man indifferently waited for his continuation. ”However, I cannot accept another joint project with Liu Empire Don't get me wrong, I am not looking down at your company.” With that said remarks, the whole conference room was enveloped with nothing but dead silence. It was stifling, yet both men seemed unfazed with the atmosphere around the four corners of the room.

Soon, Morris Liu broke the deafening quietness, ”I see…” as he acknowledged the response he already anticipated, Morris Liu slowly stood from his seat before courtly bowing his head. As he turned and took a step forward, he halted when he heard Frederick Yang spoke.

”Morris, you know the reason why I didn't stop cooperating with you despite what happened. But, when this comes to completion, I will be severing ties with the Liu family. Whether you want to pick a fight with me again, I will face you head-on by then.” Frederick Yang's voice was firm as his fist resting on the armrest tightened.

Morris Liu turned to face the stern middle-aged man sitting on the head seat, ”Rest assured, I will keep my word -- I don't need another enemy.” He then politely bowed again and left.

When Morris Liu left the conference room, Frederick Yang could finally heave a sigh of relief. Glancing at the shut entrance, he lightly shook his head and looked at the contract again before he picked it up. Resting his back against the executive chair, he murmured. ”That brat… he could just apologize instead of giving me this.”
