When Lexi entered their manor, Lillian Yang was enjoying a cup of tea in the living area. Hearing the footsteps of her daughter, Lillian Yang turned her head to Lexi's direction.

With a motherly smile, she spoke, ”Lexi, dear, can you accompany your mom for a while?”

”Sure,” Nodding, Lexi agreed as it was already her plan—to catch up with her mother.

Sitting beside her mother, Lexi served herself with tea as she didn't want to bother her mother any longer. After all, she personally prepared their dinner for tonight. Therefore, Lexi was certain was her mother was as tired as her.

”Lexi? What do you think about Ethan?” Breaking their peace, Lillian Yang softly inquired as she slightly moved to face her daughter.

”Uh, about him… Mom, can we not talk about him for a while? I haven't recovered about him asking for your permission the next day he confessed to me -- that guy…” Knowing where this was heading, Lexi heavily sighed.

In actuality, it's not that she didn't want to talk about him, but rather, she was afraid. Afraid that the more she delved with what her mind and heart were telling about Ethan Lu, the more she'd be confused.

”I see…” Knowing her daughter more than anyone else, Lillian Yang didn't probe further as she placed down the tea on the small table. She then returned her gaze back to her gorgeous daughter, she spoke once again.

”Lexi…”

”Hmm?” Humming a tune, Lexi turned her gaze to meet her mother with her brows slightly raised. Seeing her motherly smile, she smiled back.

Lillian Yang reached for her hand that was holding the teacup and smoothly rubbed them.

”I know what's stopping you. We were selfish and followed your grandfather's wish about your engagement with Morris. We didn't give you the chance to meet other men, and made it as your habit --”

”Mom, that's not it.” Interrupting her mother midway, Lexi's brows creased.

She knew how emotional and self-blaming her parents could be, hence, she didn't want to keep worrying them. However, even if she wanted to let their worries about her go away, she couldn't just simply do that as she had committed suicide; which was by the way she regretted the most.

If it wasn't for the system, Lexi died a long time ago and when she thought about it, her parents would surely grieve for the rest of their life—blaming themselves for letting her give up her life. She resumed,
