49 Not a Fly, but a Fat Mosquito (2/2)
Keiko held her broken finger, seeing it reddened and purpled. It was on her right hand— her dominant hand. She felt her resentment peaked, but her body froze as she saw her standing in front of her. Her gaze soon fell to Attori's feet where the green knife was dropped since she used her right hand earlier to break the other's finger. Keiko lunged to grab it, but the mad girl stepped on its blade, effectively breaking it apart. The classmate's eyes widened as she was left with the handle.
”They'll be here in five minutes. We can just go pretend he attacked us both— oh wait, he really did!” Attori plastered her sweet smile as she replied to Arata. However, her expression suddenly changed.
She ducked down and grabbed the butterfly blade from the ground as she ducked. She even tucked Keiko and pushed her away from where she was earlier. They both rolled on the grassy floor as if evading something. Then again, it was just them gaining distance from the body. Keiko had no idea what was happening until she noticed something was perched on top of the lamppost. It seemed that her reflection showed on Attori's phone when she was texting.
The mad girl aimed her blade at the creature. ”Please tell me you're not here to hurt us! We'll be so scared if you are!” However, she was glaring and smiling at the same time.
”Ah, such a bold girl!” The creature dropped from the height and landed next to Keita.
Under the light of the lamppost, they saw what seemed to be fantastical creature. Attori and Keiko were both familiar to it, but only in literary works and sexy Halloween costumes. It was a monster with human-like features and bat like wings attached to its waist. Her clothes were nothing but burnt skin covering her intimate parts. Her horns swirled on top of her head, having a lighter color than her hair. It was a succubus at most.
Keiko was puzzled, but Attori got to her feet, eyes locked at the creature. As someone who considered the existence of a god feeding on the love of maidens, the mad girl also considered the existence of a monster who feeds on the essences of men. Thus, she was not scared or even fazed by a succubus. The only thing she was unsure of was if this creature was the same female otherworldly existence that Arata mentioned.
The succubus sat on the male's abdomen and tapped on his chest like he was indeed a chair. ”Not scared?”
”Hm, of a fat fly? Not really.” Attori mellowed her glare, sizing the hostility of the creature. As for her, she was clearly hostile; both because the existence was not human and seemed to be attracted to her god husband. 'This fly went to see Arata. I won't let it go if she wants to eat his soul or something.'
”Fat fly? How hurtful.” The succubus lied on her side and managed to reach Keita's face. ”I can only get fatter so I can offend you some more, right?” She kissed the sleeping man's lips.
Attori threw her blade to the creature, but the succubus took off with speed. The knife barely missed Keita's neck, but he did not turn into something else. A ridiculing laughter echoed around the two until it trailed off to the distance. Keiko crawled to her brother and checked his vitals. The mad girl only looked at the last place she saw the figure in the skies. She then went around to pick up the blade, only to notice that were was a thin lining of dark blood on its blade.
Keiko hugged her brother in fear. She looked up at the mad girl next to her. ”What was that?! Tell me you saw that, too!”
”The news said it was a ghost...” She raised the blade and made the light glint against the dark blood. ”But it was really just a fat mosquito...”
From the dark background of Attori's reflection shone lights of red and blue. She placed the butterfly blade where her Jell-O knife used to be as she walked to where the green handle was. She stomped on it, destroying it before the police came to their aid.
Attori stepped into the shadows as they were all busy with Keiko and her brother. She hummed as she fished for her phone and earned no reply from Arata. ”I don't like this...”
