Though Alphas generally lived longer lives, they had a clear aging period as well. From the age of 18, when they become adults, to the age of 68, any Alpha would feel the effects of aging no matter how strong they were. Even if it wasn’t obvious from their appearance, their fertility would gradually decline until its end. At most, an Alpha could be fertile up to the age of around 73, and then they would no longer be able to impregnate an Omega.

Even though many important leaders worked to the age of 88 before retiring, some military personnel would retire even earlier due to their long years of training. Usually, those Alphas would work to the ripe old age of 80 before living out their lives in retirement.

Take Old Patriarch Ye for example. Currently, at the age of 78, that man was already living out the rest of his life at home, repaying the overdue debts of his sins through his children[T/N: Basically saying that the retribution for your sins early in your life is achieved through how much your kids destroy you later.].

Ye Xin had just turned 20 this year, the best years of a young man’s life, while Lin Su was already 50 years old. He was more than twice Ye Xin’s age, so he could seriously be his father.

Even so, Ye Xin actually fell in love with Lin Su, which made Old Patriarch Ye so pissed that he was almost bursting with rage.

It was true that a fifty-year-old Alpha was still in his prime, and still had much to offer, especially since Lin Su had risen to the position of great general. In status and manner, he was one of the best, but the problem was the huge gap between his and Ye Xin’s age! It completely challenged Old Patriarch Ye’s feeble nerves.

If Ye Xin was not the Ye family’s child, and only an ordinary Omega, then he would not think much if he married Lin Su. In fact, there was another reason causing Ye Xuan to be so angry. Lin Su came out of the Ye family as a humble young boy before reaching success. After being named great general, he was now a rising noble in the Galactic Federation and his name was loud and reputable.

Lin Su had always been grateful and always remembered the kindness he owed Ye Xuan, and he also respected him very much. He had always been very courteous with him.

He really wished he could draw a clear line with Lin Su, but who knew that his own son would go and backstab him!

When Qin Mo and Shi Qing came in, Old Patriarch Ye had already scolded him right in the face. Ye Xin had quite a temper. He was only ever soft to Lin Su in his life, but if he was expected to humble himself in front of anyone, they might as well just ask for his life.

So, even if he was scolded to the heavens by Old Patriarch Ye, he just said, “I just want to be with Lin Su! So what!”

Old Patriarch Ye was furious and he threw out, “You can be clingy all you want! But will he even accept you?!”

Then, Ye Xin’s face turned pale, and the room also turned silent in an instant.

Ye Xuan realized himself that he’d said too much. What’s more, all his children were so dear to him that he hardly ever said any harsh words to any of them. It was only his anger that pushed him to speak so bluntly.

After he said that, he regretted it, but Ye Xin was also stubborn. He was stubborn enough that even ten oxen would not be able to move him. He actually gritted his teeth and said with his face still pale, “If he doesn’t want me, then I’ll just die!”

That sentence resulted in Ye Xuan exploding completely. It caused the regret that rushed up inside of him to flutter away as he shook his finger at him. He was so angry that he could not speak, only being able to muster, “You…you…you…”

At that, Shi Qing quickly came forward to pat the old man’s back and said, “Don’t be angry, dad. Please watch your health.”

After taking a few breaths, it was thanks to how sturdy Old Patriarch Ye was at his age that he held on. Even so, Shi Qing didn’t dare to let him stay here any longer and quickly helped him back into his room to rest.

Ye Xuan did not insist on staying either, and left with Shi Qing. After heading into the room and getting into bed, Old Patriarch Ye sighed.

Seeing him like that, Shi Qing did feel a little sad, to be honest. After all, he was just a father wanting the best for his son, and seeing Ye Xuan like that reminded him of his own father, which made him take care of him even more attentively.

Having his mood repaired by his youngest son, Ye Xuan finally got over it. Thinking of how he neglected this child, he began to feel guilty again and could not help himself in speaking softly, “Child, you’re such a good child, Xiao Qing.”

Shi Qing felt a little awkward so he just smiled.

Ye Xuan continued, “I’m fine now. You’ve always had a good relationship with that kid, so try to persuade him as much as you can. It’s impossible for Lin Su. Definitely impossible!”

Seeing that Ye Xuan was about to start again, Shi Qing quickly responded, “Alright. I’ll go speak to him, so you should rest.”

After leaving, Shi Qing saw his third brother as soon as he left the room.

“Third…” Seeing the ‘off’ expression on his face, Shi Qing quickly changed his words. “Uh…Brother.”

Qin Mo was satisfied. He came closer and took his hand, saying, “Are you hungry? Let’s go eat.”

Shi Qing was still worrying over Ye Xin so he couldn’t help but ask, “Is Fourth Brother still in the living room?”

Qin Mo frowned slightly and he said, dissatisfied, “What’re you caring about him for?”

Shi Qing, “…” he was seriously speechless!

Even though it was a question, it clearly wasn’t one that needed an answer, so Shi Qing said, “I’ll go check on him.”

Qin Mo was going to stop him, but then he seemed to have thought of something else and said, “Come on, I’ll go with you.”

There was some distance from the bedroom to the living room, so the two walked side by side while holding hands. It seemed a little weird, but neither of them seemed to have realized it.
