The nurse was interrupted by James once again. She shook her head and sighed.

”Don't worry about him. Please, just make it quick,” said Jean.

”See, your girlfriend isn't as weak as you think!” Now that Jean had spoken up, the nurse smiled and felt more at ease then started the process.

James gazed at Jean and smiled proudly. ”She's a tough girl.”

He felt very pleased that the nurse assumed that Jean was his girlfriend. The thought of that made him feel warm inside.

When the nurse had left, James sat by her bed and stared at the IV drops. He was worried about Jean, so he fussed over her and kept asking if she needed anything in the hope of comforting her.

”James, I'm an adult. You don't have to worry so much. You can go home and have some rest,” said Jean as she glanced over at him with bleary eyes.

”No! I'm going to wait for you to finish the IV and then drive you home. How can I leave you in the hospital by yourself?” replied James. He then reached over and gently pulled her hair to the side for her.

”What... what are you doing?” Jean suddenly asked. She wasn't used to being touched by another man.
