Chapter 943 Devious Bastard (2/2)

“He’s going to marry that woman! She... was my best friend!”

s departure.

Alone in the room, Jean opened her eyes and completely dropped all her guises. The tears she had denied earlier fell like a steady stream from her eyes to the pillows.

She thought of the traces of reluctance in his voice. Was it real? Or was it just her own wishful imagination? Jean let thoughts of him linger for a while. After a few seconds, she sighed, her shoulders sagging wearily in the sheets. ”Forget it. No matter how much I think about it, it won't change anything. Thinking about him any more than this would just be torture,” she spoke to herself.

After taking a few deep and calming breaths, she reached out and wiped the tears from her face, eager for the arms of sleep.

At midnight.

A warm sensation enveloped her. Through her sleep-haze, the sensation mingled with her half-formed dreams. She turned her body and curled up in the comforting feeling wrapped around her.

A satisfied smile curved on her lips as she basked in the quiet warmth of the dream. Then, once again, she fell asleep.

The next morning, she woke up and saw a man sleeping next to her. It did not take even a minute for her to know who it was.

”Devious bastard,” she muttered. ”He even said that he would stay in another room yesterday. But he actually sneaked back in and lay beside me. Liar!”

She opened the quilt and hurriedly changed her clothes. Then, she left for work.

The man in the bed, smiled with satisfaction. He sat up and stretched, waking his limbs from restful sleep. ”Oh, I'll be as devious as necessary,” he said to no one in particular.

He picked up the phone and looked at the time. It was still early. Then he walked to the closet, sifting through the clothes. He hung mostly suits, while most of Jean's clothes were sportswear.

”Hmmm. I might need to do a bit of catching up,” Zed said to himself, eyeing Jean's clothes, a mischievous glint lighting up in his eyes. He came up with an idea. Things were going to be interesting.
