She then slumped onto one of the beds and rolled around as though she was drunk. ”I am feeling very sleepy.”
Gu Xijiu went to wash herself up and then lied down on the other bed.
Li Mengxia could not wait and quickly sent an audio message to her. ”What's going on?”
Gu Xijiu replied, ”Something is wrong with him. He has turned into someone else.”
Li Mengxia was shocked. ”Why didn't I feel that something was wrong?”
Gu Xijiu remained silent. After all, she had known Long Siye far longer than Li Mengxia. Furthermore, they had worked together on several occasions before. She knew him very well, and she was also very familiar with all of his body languages. Although Long Siye currently looked the same as the old days, it was only enough to fool those people who did not know him well. However, he could not hide his flaws from Gu Xijiu who was an expert and also knew Long Siye in and out.
For example, Long Siye used to hold his glass with only four fingers, and his thumb would slightly curve backward. However, he held his glass with only three fingers earlier, and his finger was slightly curved forward.
Long Siye's gaze was always calm and sharp. However, his gaze was cold just now as though he wanted to kill someone.
”When did you realize that he had turned into someone else?”
”When we returned from the washroom after your puked.”
Li Mengxia frowned. ”Do you think he was replaced by someone else while we were away? Did someone disguise themselves as him?” She then shook her head. ”How is it possible? He still looked the same.”
Li Mengxia was an observant person, and she had a good memory for recognizing people. She would have noticed if someone else had replaced that person, even if that person was a twin. After all, even twins had minor differences between them, let alone someone in disguise.
Gu Xijiu was a somewhat observant person as well. When she began suspecting him, she secretly checked Long Siye's facial features. His eyebrows, his nose, and his lips.
There was a tiny scar the size of a pimple at the end of Long Siye's eyebrow. He also had a light mole on his nose, and a very small line on the helix of his ear. The little finger on his left hand was also slightly longer than his right one. These were some of the few characteristics that others might not have noticed. If someone was disguised as him, they would not be able to follow to the extent of such details. In other words, his body was still the same. However, his soul seemed to have been replaced.
Before this, Long Siye's aura was still the same, but the air was filled with little evil energy. The evil energy felt somewhat familiar. However, she was certain that it was Long Siye who had a drink with them. How was it possible that his soul was replaced? Were there two souls present inside his body?
It did not sound right as Di Fuyi had mentioned before that it was not easy for a soul to reluctantly take over a living body. He also mentioned that two souls could never live together in the same body with the exception that the individual was possessed ever since he was born. Furthermore, it required the owner of the body to agree before the foreign soul could live together with the owner, just like Rong Che.
Mo Zhao had already possessed Rong Che's body ever since he was born. Therefore, Mo Zhao was slowly able to adapt to Rong Che's body and eventually take control of it. It was so tricky for Mo Zhao to take over a kid's body even though he was so powerful. Hence, it was almost impossible for him to take over Long Siye's!
Therefore, what was wrong with him? Was she overreacting? Gu Xijiu could not figure iit out. Hence, she took out her directed audio spell. The night was quiet. It was not only Di Fuyi who had not contacted her back, but the rest had not gotten back to her as well.
She paused for a short moment and tried contacting Di Fuyi. Unfortunately, there was still no response from him. She pondered and tried contacting her brother. However, she was unable to get through to him as well. She tightly clenched her fist that was still holding the spell. Something was wrong!
She tried contacting several other people. However, she could not reach any of them as well. Was her directed audio spell faulty? She pondered for a while before deciding to wake Li Mengxia up. She asked her to try connecting hers.
A moment later, both of them looked at each other as they sat on the bed. Both Li Mengxia and Gu Xijiu's directed audio spells were not reaching anyone!
”Mengxia, could you try connecting to someone else?”
”Alright.”
Li Mengxia immediately tried contacting someone else. However, it was the same case as Gu Xijiu. She failed to reach anyone regardless of who she tried to contact.
Gu Xijiu made the directed audio spells. Hence, she took both of them and thoroughly checked the spell. Nothing seemed to be wrong with it. Was there something installed in the hotel that was blocking the signal of the directed audio spells?
After Gu Xijiu exhorted Li Mengxia, she immediately teleported out from the hotel. She found an open space and tried connecting the directed audio spell. A moment later, the directed audio spell was blinking. Right after it was connected, Di Fuyi's magnetic and clear voice was heard. ”Where did you go? Why were you not reachable earlier?”
Gu Xijiu immediately heaved a sigh of relief. Perhaps, there was something wrong with the layout or construction of the hotel that had blocked the signal of her directed audio spell. Suddenly, she thought of a scary possibility just as she was about to speak to him about her day! It may not have been a coincidence that the signal of her directed audio spell was blocked. If that was the case, the line of her directed audio spell could have also been transferred to someone else! What if someone was listening to their conversation?
Instantly, she smiled and replied. ”I just visited an old friend. We had a drink since we were happy to be reunited again. Mengxia drank a little too much, so I think we won't be able to head back tonight. You should have a good rest.”
There was a pause on the other side. ”Where are you now?”
”We're at the Fengyi Hotel in Weilai Town.”
”Wait there.” Di Fuyi replied with two words and immediately disconnected the call.
Gu Xijiu stared at the directed audio spell for a short while before rubbing her brow. Was Di Fuyi heading over here now?! It was such a long journey.
Li Mengxia was still waiting for her in the room when she returned to the hotel. She heaved a sigh of relief as she saw Gu Xijiu come in. ”How was it?”
Gu Xijiu answered, ”Something is wrong with the hotel. The directed audio worked fine when I left the area.”
Li Mengxia was still wondering. ”The hotel can block the signal from your directed audio spell? What a mystery.”
Gu Xijiu pulled the blanket over and covered herself. ”Well, some places aren't able to receive any communication signal due to its construction layout.”
She was shocked when she said it! The directed audio spells that she invented were slightly similar to the characteristics of a mobile phone. However, the signal that was sent and received were powered by spiritual power wavelengths. She had also done some research on Di Fuyi's jade tablet. In essence, the directed audio spells were simplified version of the jade tablet, and its signal was powerful. The only time when someone could not be contacted with the jade tablet was if they had entered a forbidden land. It was due to the sound insulating wizardry barrier that was set around the forbidden lands. However, the barrier was very hard to set-up and required a person to have a spiritual power of level nine before they were able to cast it.
Gu Xijiu would have felt it if there was a wizardry barrier surrounding the hotel. Therefore, it was not possible. Hence, if it was not because of a wizardry barrier, it was probably a particular type of modern strategy. However, there were only two people other than Gu Xijiu living in that era who knew the strategy. They were Long Siye and Long Fan. Did it mean that Long Siye had done something to the hotel? What was his intention?
Long Siye did not seem to have any reason to do it. Was Long Fan the culprit behind this problem?! She pressed her ear towards the wall to listen if there was any sound next door. It was extremely quiet next door to the extent that she could hear the sound of Long Siye's breathing.
The hotel was strange, and Long Siye was acting oddly as well. Originally, Gu Xijiu planned to depart tomorrow. However, she would be leaving with a burden in her heart if she was unable to solve all the mysteries about today's events. Therefore, she had a secret conversation with Li Mengxia again and then teleported to Long Siye's room.
She made herself invisible once she entered the room. She first glanced at the bed and noticed that Long Siye was quietly lying on the bed. His eyes were closed, and his eyelashes were dilating. He was asleep as his breathing rhythm was long and steady. There was nothing unusual.
Gu Xijiu heaved a sigh of relief and glimpsed at his face again. Suddenly, her heart skipped a beat!
