Chapter 115 Isll Wait For You (2/2)

Lu AnLing quit going to competitions after that.

Remembering this, Lu AnLing frowned.

Looking Lu AnLing straight in the face, Lu Jiayi opened her mouth to argue but her Grandfather stopped her with a hand on her shoulder before he spoke to Lu AnLing.

”AnLing dear, it's best if you go.” Grandpa Lu said before he turned to look at the girl. ”Your mother will contact you once your grandmother wakes up.”

Lu AnLing wanted to argue but the way the elder had said it, it was more like an order than a suggestion.

A part of Lu AnLing wanted to stay, but another really didn't want to start a big fight over something like this. So, after saying insincere goodbyes she left.

Walking down the hallway, Lu AnLing sent Kang Jun a message. She doubted he would answer her since it was so late but to her surprise, Kang Jun answered straight away.

King Kang: [I'm here.]

Following her, Chong Feng said, ”I can give you a ride home if you want.”

”No thank you.”

Feeling a bit worried, Chong Feng spoke once more.

”Really, I can. It's dangerous for a girl to take a taxi alone, this late at night.”

Lu AnLing shook her head.

”I'm not taking a taxi. A… friend, it coming to pick me up.”

Hearing this, Chong Feng nodded.

Chong Feng accompanied the girl outside but he lingered a few steps behind her. He had already assumed who Lu AnLing was being picked up by and since he didn't know how jealous Kang Jun could be, he would much rather be safe than sorry.

Outside, Lu AnLing immediately noticed Kang Jun's car.

”My friends here.” She said to Chong Feng before she ran to Kang Jun's car. Opening the car door and peering inside, Lu AnLing felt an intense calmness spread through her body.

She was so glad to see Kang Jun that she wanted to cry.

Turning to wave at Chong Feng, Lu AnLing smiled before she closed the door behind her.

Once inside, she turned to Kang Jun. ”He's just the son of my grandmothers friend…”

Lu AnLing wasn't quite sure why she was explaining this but deep inside, she had felt like she had to. As she did, Kang Jun listened calmly, before replying.

”Don't worry. It's not a big deal. I know him.”

Lu AnLing turned to give Kang Jun a look of confusion. Without looking at her, Kang Jun felt her stare so he continued to speak.

”He's the Kang family's doctor. He took over from his father a few years back. We were raised together.”

Hearing this, Lu AnLing froze.

Chong Feng was the Kang family doctor?…

And Old Chong had been the doctor beforehand?…

Her mind wandered towards wild fantasies. But as she connected the dots, those wild fantasies didn't feel quite as farfetched as she had once thought. When she only knew about Rong Yue Wan's involvement, she had a small assumption that the Kang's could have had something to do with her child's disappearance but that was a reach, but now, with Old Chong's involvement Lu AnLing didn't know what to think.

The car stopped at a red light. A deep silence filled the car as both Lu AnLing and Kang Jun's minds were focused on other things.

Suddenly, Lu AnLing turned towards Kang Jun.

”Mr. Kang…” she murmured.

Kang Jung: ”Mmm.”

”You would never lie to me, would you?”

Hearing this, Kang Jun turned to her with a look of utter confusion.

The way Lu AnLing looked at him reminded Kang Jun of Kang Mingyu. Her eyes were clear and full of trust. Whatever he would answer, she would believe without a second thought.

”Never.”

”Then, there's something I need to tell you…” There was a slight pause, but by now, Lu AnLing knew that Kang Jun would just stay silent until she finished her sentence.

Lu AnLing's heart palpitated hard. The noise filled the negative space.

”I need your help.”
