33 Chapter 32 (2/2)
Walking up to it, like in a trance, I placed my hand on it. The instant I touched the Poneglyph, I experienced a sharp pain in my head. It felt like someone was slowly cutting it apart.
Following the pain, I heard a voice so domineering that was crushing me entirely just by listening to it. I couldn't control myself and started speaking alongside it.
”For thousands of years, we fought. We won battles, but the war we lost. The curse was too strong. With the seeds, we ran away to where life could grow. Thousands of years ago, we landed on this very land. We built everything anew and flourished once again, but escape we never did. The curse was upon once again, bringing destruction with it. Countermeasures were created, but they were not enough. The curse was too strong. History repeated itself again, and our friends turned their backs on us. We fought, we won battles, but the war was lost yet again. Our only hope left in our descendants, with our legacy left in the clouds.”
Once I stopped hearing the voice, I started seeing visions. Myriad races were fighting against each other. There were Humans, Giants, Fishmen and so many more others that I've never even seen. Each and every one of them was an amazing fighter who had tremendous powers.
All of them were using Armament Haki while fighting, judging how they were turning selective parts on their bodies black. To top it all of they were using Devil Fruit abilities with extreme expertise. The control and power shown by them could put anyone I've seen so far to shame. Gigantic mountains and continents were destroyed within minutes in their confrontations.
I saw hundreds of different battles, and they all ended in the same way, with nearly everyone dead.
At one point the scene changed to a selective group, that was boarding a space ship. The ship flew away from a planet, while the planet crumbled away in the distance.
After that, the visions stopped, and I collapsed on the ground panting. Robin was overlooking me with a bit of concern on her face.
”What happened?” I asked out.
”After you read the text, you started screaming in pain. No matter what I said you didn't respond.” Robin answered me but didn't let me respond, as she asked me a question immediately after that. ”Where did you learn to read that language?”
”I can't read it. I don't know what happened earlier.” I told Robin, while still gasping for air. My whole body was in pain, and I was sweating, but I was slowly recovering.
”What do you mean you can't read it? You recited the text written on it word by word.” Robin was looking at me with astonishment.
”I've never seen this language before, but I felt a connection to the Poneglyph. Once I touched it, I heard a voice in my head. I don't know how, but I was forced to repeat after it.” I answered her truthfully.
”This shouldn't be possible, but you being able to read this text, is just as unlikely,” Robin stated with shock in her eyes.
”Is this everything that is written on it?” I asked her. It's such a big block yet only so little was written.
”Usually it's even less and more cryptic,” Robin responded.
”You said that you have never seen this language, but you heard a voice correct?” She asked me.
”Yes,” I confirmed while nodding my head.
”I don't really trust you, but I will follow you for now. I want to see if this is a one-time thing. You did say you are interested in the Void Century, so I presume you will be going after other Poneglyphs correct?” Robin questioned.
”That's right. You won't regret joining us, I promise you,” I answered her cheerfully.
”That remains to be seen. You would have to deal with my current boss, Sir Crocodile of the Schibukai.” She said.
”That was our plan, to begin with. Let's go and introduce you to the crew.” I told her, and we made our way towards the rest of the crew.
