Chapter 149 - 149: Death Sniper [Part 2] (2/2)

”Hm...? What are they doing?” The sniper asked as he kept his sight locked onto them.

He placed his finger on the trigger before taking in a deep breath. ”Guess they've given up... If that's the case, I'll end it here.”

[Rapid Magnetic Bullets.]

[Target Locked On.]

”Fire.” He said.

Ria watched nervously as the two stood there. Gray shut his eyes, focusing all of his senses onto the surroundings.

He shut off all the sounds coming from the surroundings, and focused on the faintest sounds he could hear.

The air around him changed.

*Ps* *Ps* *Ps* *Ps* *Ps*

Ten consecutive shots fired each a twentieth of a second away from one another.

It was faint, but he could hear it, the quiet sound of a silenced rifle being fired off at them.

He was hearing the sound coming from one single direction. Although he couldn't exactly pinpoint it.

Gray's eyes opened wide, and in that instant, it reflected a bullet drawing closer to it.

'Time stop.' The words flashed through his mind.

. . .

Everything became black and white. The sounds of the fighting, and war completely faded.

Complete silence and not a trace of any movements could be felt.

Time had stopped.

As of this moment Gray was the only life form to exist and function... In this world of stopped time.

Despite that, he stood completely still, not moving a single muscle.

His eyes which had been staring at the bullet ahead of him, slowly looked around.

Beside him was Ria with a desperate look on her face and her hand stretched out towards him. He had noticed signs of a small portal opening up ahead of him to stop the bullet.

To her left, two bullets could be seen about to collide to one another and ricochet onto her.

There were antoher three bullets to his right, they seemed to be bending towards him in a way.

He could only imagine the other remaining bullets were in their blind spots.

[3 seconds passed.]

Gray had learnt that the damage he gained when he stopped time was proportional to how long he spent there and how much he moved.

The stronger he got, the more he could withstand it, but it would still be fatal.

He didn't have enough money to buy a health potion strong enough to heal him so he could only resort to this tactic.

Stop time, and search for the sniper in hiding.

This was the plan and the exact one he had told to Ria.

Although he couldn't pinpoint where the sounds of the gun being fired came from, he could faintly remember the direction.

It came from behind.

So if the bullets were coming from behind, how was it that they were being fired off of different spots of the map?

Gray didn't know.

'But knowing it doesn't matter... What matters is...'

Gray slowly turned his body around, his expression dark and his movement stiff, resembling creaking gears struggling to turn.

Once he had completed the turn, the edges of his lip curled up.
