Chapter 79: Grays Awakening. (1/2)
Weapons began manifesting all around the mist, taking a shape as they were directed towards the four.
As a result of Violet's ability, the mist wasn't able to close in any further around them. However, if he were to weapons shaped by the mist, he could just barely cut through.
*Swoosh*
From spears, battle axes, maces to swords. Weapons of all kind were propelled at them.
But at the end of the day, it was all made of mist. As they came inches away from the group, they would instantly freeze as a result of Aurora's ability.
Such was the defense formation and forte they had managed to keep up. But at the same time, all they were doing was defending.
Their stamina could run out at any given rate, not to mention since he didn't have a physical form, they weren't able to attack him back.
With the mist all around them, the two began to hallucinate dark silhouettes forming inside of it.
”Aurora! Violet!” The voice called out to them from within the mist.
Simultaneously, a figure manifested over the bridge, at just an angle where it was recognisable. After getting a closer look, they realised that both the figure and voice belonged to Gray. It was obviously an illusion.
She turned back with dead cold eyes, only to see Gray's corpse, his sister and the horned princess behind her.
”That's body's a fake! It was all set up by the horned ones...! Come... Please help me...!”
Just as he finished saying that, in the two's blindspot a twirling mist could be seen manifesting. So far any of the attacks sent at them were frozen by Aurora's ability after being stopped by Violet so what if he attacked them where they couldn't see it?
Add that to him distracting them, he clearly had the advantage. Or so he thought.
The moment he had propulsed those very same weapons at them, they froze, this time even further away from her than usual.
Rather than just being inches away from the group, this time it had frozen in the air, surprisingly close to the mist.
”!?”
”You... You really didn't realise did you?” Violet sighed before pointing at the ground beneath her.
'Realised...? What? What are they talking about? All that's beneath her is-' He felt a chill go down his spine as he finally noticed. 'Ice... She couldn't have...!?'
Beneath Violet was simply ice. Red ice resulted from Aurora's ability and all the blood which had been splattered around. The ice itself had spread all throughout the top of the arena.
At first glance, it didn't seem like anything dangerous. But after getting an even closer look, he noticed that the ice had gone down from the sides of the arena and spread all throughout the spikes at the bottom. It had gone as having risen up the walls.
Because he was in his mist form, he couldn't feel the drop in the temperature. There was also so much that he didn't notice his movements slowing down.
Slowly but surely, while he was focused on attacking the two, they had already been attacking him from within. The ice had already begun spreading through the mist, the air was slowly freezing.
Simultaneously, Aurora's pink hair was glowing a light blue aura as she had her head hung down.
”I-Impossible...! How can her ice cover this entire floor!?!” He yelled out.
*Crackle*
And those were his final words, before being completely frozen. From the three's pespective, the entire roof seemed to have crystalised as a result of the freezing.
”I can't believe it...” The horned princess muttered, her mouth shivering from the cold. ”They did it...”
The temperature was so low that her breath was not only visible but also seemed to freeze.
”Aurora... We did it... We avenged him...” Violet added with tas she turned to her. Dark circles could be seen beneath her frozen eyelids as she shivered uncontrollably.
It was unbelievably cold. They were quite literally standing on nothing but ice.
”Aurora?” Violet called out to her once more seeing as hwo she hadn't replied.
