”You do not know what you're saying,” he breathed. With these words he turned away and hastily left the room.

Sam heard the front door pop loudly. She looked at Anita uncomprehendingly. This began to clear the dishes together. Sam spoke to her cautiously. ”Anita?”

”He'll be back.” Anita carried the dishes to the sink and began with loud noise to push the leftovers into the garbage chute. ”Go for a walk Sam.”

Sam stared at Anita's repellent back. She left the house and turned right. Maybe she would do a walk to the lake quite well. Sam was happy to leave the hostile atmosphere behind. Happy with her bitter purchased freedom in this wonderful environment, she walked out powerfully.

Surely only a difference of opinion between the two. No wonder, by what had destroyed her perfect family world. Sam did not know much about relationships and their crises. For the first time, she was glad that she was alone and did not have to consider anyone.

After about 10 minutes, Sam reached the lake shore. She took off the silly ballerinas, settled on a sandy ledge and held her bare feet in the cool water. She stretched her face toward the warm rays of the midday sun.

If Miguel and Anita left to fetch the children, she would disappear unobtrusively. She did not want to burden them unnecessarily with her presence. With Sam in mind, they would never forget the cruel experiences of their children. They were even. Sam had killed Miguel's brother and in return Sam had helped Sam escape. A clean cut would do everyone good. In addition, Sam had to take care of the fulfillment of their oath.

Sam blinked angrily as she felt a shadow move against the sun. There had not been any clouds in the sky.

Miguel stood beside her and looked gravely down at her.

”I am sorry that I have witnessed your quarrel.” Sam stuttered embarrassed.

Miguel sighed and sat next to Sam. ”It's been like that for eight months.” He crossed his legs and hung his head. ”She's embarrassed that the kids are not alone with me in a room, making flimsy excuses so I can not get the kids to bed.” He sighed.
