Chapter 44 (1/2)
While Teddy was struggling in his mind, the rest had stopped attacking.
Hell Baron’s Father asked, “Is it going to work? This is a bear Boss. It can be tamed?”
Tearless answered, “Relax, I spent a lot on this high grade Tame. Since it is barely alive, it should increase the chance of success. Anyway, this bear is just an Elite, not a Boss.”
Tame required 20 seconds (30 seconds for Elite monsters) to channel, and any attacks would disrupt its effect.
During this period, the monster could still attack the Hunter. If the Hunter survived the channeling duration, it would be tamed. However, if the Hunter was killed in the process, the Tame would fail too.
Teddy was not sure what to do now. He could easily kill this Hunter in front of him. But what would happen next? He would be killed by all the other adventurers… Derek was a very good example. Teddy did not wish to follow Derek’s path.
“Guess that’s the end of me… QAQ… Why is this happening to me? I shouldn’t have listened to that damn Goblin.” Teddy was very annoyed. But seeing that his owner-to-be was a female, he felt much better.
However, Teddy could not just surrender—even an idiot could see that this bear was not normal. He tried to hide his identity as a player as he did not want anyone to know.
He roared and charged at the Hunter.
“Oh no! Your Ice Trap is off track!” Hell Baron’s Father shouted. Normally, a Hunter would place an Ice Trap in front of him to stall time before taming. Non Cat-Eating Fish’s trap was not in the correct path because she was too nervous.
Luckily, the bear had a weird running path too. Teddy had already noticed the trap on the ground. He could have avoided it if he ran normally. But since he needed to make it look real, he needed to pretend to dodge any potential traps.
Chang! Teddy stepped on the Ice Trap and was frozen.
Ice Trap: Place an Ice Trap on the ground and freeze any enemy stepping on it for 7 seconds. Any damage will break this effect.
Supreme Sword asked, “What? How did the bear step on it? Is it blind?”
“Shut up! My sister predicted the bear’s move.” Tearless encouraged her sister and said, “C’mon, you can do it.”
The ice effect was soon gone. Teddy ran towards Non Cat-Eating Fish and hit her using a normal attack. He chose not to use skills because he did not wish to kill her.
-39. That was a quarter of her health bar.
Non Cat-Eating Fish said, “Ouch, the damage is so high.”
Tearless said, “It’s okay. Paladin, what are you doing? Heal!”
Leftover Fighter quickly casted a healing spell and fully healing Non Cat-Eating Fish.
Teddy noticed that this Hunter did not have the right equipment. Although her laced dress looked very beautiful, it was not right for her job. The defence was way too low. Teddy did not attack anymore even though there was a healer.
He was worried that he would kill her by accident.
