50 Battle for the Newly Awaken Innovators (1/2)

Innovators were like the new oil, a small battle between forces upon spotting a newly-awaken innovator was pretty common. It wasn't just for fighting over the new innovators, but it was also a chance to evaluate the current power other forces were at.

When only about one in every ten thousand people have the potential to become the innovator, not to mention how it's unpredictable when they could even awake their power, every innovator was a precious asset. Thus, for forces of different background such as government, corporate, or dark world, they would all have eyes in their competitors to notify them when a new innovator was spotted.

Knowing full well of this, Nexus obviously knew this operation would be extremely riskier since they were extracting not just one, but two innovators. To prepare for the worst, they dispatched 2 crimson-tier innovators as convoy that escorted them to the helicopter pad, 2 more crimson-tier innovators as pilots, and ambushing 2 gold-tier innovators in the vicinity.

The rotor began spinning faster, and as expected, just as the helicopter was about to leave the ground, the system immediately shut off as a faint gold-colored stream of light entered the rotor system and center con of the helicopter.

Immediately, they knew something was off. It was recorded that certain innovators could control their GN particles to cause disruption to electronic systems, but it was an ability only someone of at least gold-tier or higher could use.

”Call for reinforcement!”

”System fully down!”

The innovators from Nexus immediately had a stern expression. Whose force could these be from?

On Nexus's side, their two gold-tier innovators remained hidden. Both of them were assassin type, excelling in the ability to hide their presence using GN particles, and the order given by their superior was to only intervene if they could confidently retreat. After all, gold-tier innovators are a lot more rare than crimson, thus it would not be a good tradeoff risking two of them even at the potential expense of 4 crimson-tiers and 2 potential recruits.

As a result, the whole team knew well that the 2 gold-tier would stay hidden until the enemy fully revealed themselves and their capabilties, and that the crimson-tier innovators may very well be the sacrifice needed to bait out all of the enemies' cards.

”Set up a perime-” Just before the leader of the military squad could finish, a steel arrow silently traveled through them in the blink of an eye. No ordinary soldiers could escape the calling of this grim reaper. The arrow travelled quickly, leaving behind a crimson particle trail, and it instantly arrived before the Nexus innovators.

Grabbing and breaking it with one hand, the Nexus squad leader shouted angrily, ”If you have the balls, just show yourself! What's up with hiding like a coward and sneak attacking!”
