43 DINNER WITH PAPA BAI (1/2)
”Hey Papa, I've missed you.” Zunnie hugged her dad and lightly peck his cheek. He seemed a bit older than the last time she had seen him.
After her lunch date with Eyan, he stated that she should speak with their dad about Alex before the media began making stories. Due to his popularity, Alex on many occasions appeared in the media. Zunnie knew that if her father found out about her and Alex through the media, he would be mortified.
During their lunch earlier in the week, she informed Eyan that Alex asked her to marry him and that she had agreed. Eyan had been shocked. Even if he thought they were moving too quickly he still supported his Zunnie. After all, she was not a child anymore.
At first, Zunnie could tell he was disappointed, but after chatting, he encouraged her to follow her heart.
Currently standing before her father, Zunnie became anxious. She had no idea how dinner would turn out. The good thing was, Eyan would be there to help her if her dad got mad. Deep down she knew he would agree with it because he wanted her to get married soon.
”Pumpkin, glad you could come home for dinner.”
”Dad, have you been exercising? You look tired today.” She asked, eyeing him thoroughly. His complexion appeared paler than usual and his eyes were droopy. Zunnie furrowed her brow a worried.
”Don't worry pumpkin, I'm exercising and eating well. So tell me, have you been seeing anyone? I'm worried about you working too much.”
”Is that why you look so tired?”
”Mhm,” Wan Bai nodded as he tried to ease his daughter's worry.
”If you must know Papa, I am seeing someone. I actually wanted to talk to you about it after dinner.”
”Ahh, should we open the best wine. You've finally decided to stop being stubborn. We don't have to wait till we're done eating. Tell me my pumpkin.”
”Ha-ha…” Zunnie chuckled at his remark.
”Who is it?”
”Promise you won't get mad?” Zunnie pouted innocently.
Wan Bai chuckled when he heard her.
”Pumpkin, no matter who you love, your Papa will be happy. Now tell me, who is my son-in-law?”
”Umm, Alexander Zi...” She avoided his gaze after she said his name.
”Ha-ha, that explains why he spent so much money at my gala. I should have guessed.”
