78 Through The Nigh (1/2)

Jamie and Angelique started heading back to the ranch when they notice the dark clouds in the sky. As they were heading back, halfway along the way the rain started pouring. Jamie has no choice but to increase the speed of the horse making Angelique a little anxious.

While on hand was on the rail, Jamie wraps his other arm around the girl's waist, ”Don't worry, you're safe...”

Angelique just closed her eyes in fear of what can happen, it was already raining so badly at the same time the track was a bit slippery and muddy.

It didn't take long before they reach the ranch safe and sound. The old man came running out of the ranch with an umbrella with him. ”Come inside, I'll take the horse back.”

Jamie quickly jumps off the horse and help Angelique down, then both of the run inside the ranch.

An old woman approached them handing over some towel, ”Come, go sit by the fireplace to dry yourself off.”

Jamie dries Angelique first before himself, ”Come here, let me help you...”

Angelique did not resist but she felt awkward being too close to Jamie after what happened by the lake. She sat obediently by the fireplace as Jamie dried off her hair.

Not long the old man came back all drench from the rain, ”It's raining so badly, it's best if you both stay here for a while, the road might not be safe for you to travel.”

When Angelique notice the old lady started preparing in the kitchen, she left Jamie and headed to the kitchen to help. It was also an excuse for her to distance herself from him. The old lady was delighted for Angelique's help at the same time impressed with the way she handled things. Since she studies culinary of course she was indeed skilled in cooking but the old lady did not know that of course.

As the four of them sat around the table for dinner, they were all content with each other company. Suddenly Angelique got up when she heard her phone rung, ”Hello, Jordon...”
