145 Bad Omen 2 (2/2)
”Alex...Alexandra...” Tereza's heartfelt hollow, she shook her body, held her palms, trying to warm her, but it was useless. She noticed her curving lips, ”Why are you smiling? Were you that joyful to see me?” Tereza sobbed beside her bed, silently crying, and muttered, ”I'm the one who should say thank you, you fool.”
Tereza's memories came back when she was in the castle. One time, she tried to sneak out from the suffocated castle, she got news that Aurora was rising in the north, because of her curious nature, she was trying to watch Aurora. Her husband, King Zay Monterg, prohibited her to watch it due to the location was too far. In the end, Alexandra was the one who took her with the help of Joel and Leon. She didn't like her queen became depressed.
Not only one time she helped Tereza, occasionally when Tereza needed something, she always there to help and assisted. Even she must break the castle's regulation. Unfortunately, because of that, she was punished severely by the king a few times. If not for Tereza to defense, she perhaps died miserably in her past world.
Tereza looked at her moveless being on the bed. She called Prof. Matshushima who was stunned, standing in front of the door. He knew about this, he tried to prepare his heart, but as soon he witnessed himself, he couldn't contain the water in his eyes. Why? Why? Why he failed to save someone again. For the first time in his life, he watched his own aura change to deep gray.
Tereza didn't notice his distressed, while strugglingly she told him, ”I will tell her family, I want you to help me to prepare her burial. Mr...?”
”Daiki Matshushima. I'm a professor at the same university as her.” He answered her while looking grimly at Laura on the bed. Tereza nodded and turned her head back to Laura's face. Dead-silence inside the room, the only thing they could hear was the small rain outside the house.
...
It was raining hard the next day.
Alexandra's funeral was held a little longer than usual. While wearing black outfits, the people who attended the place was only Laura's closest friends and family. Laura's family was crying hysterically, they couldn't believe their beloved daughter was died so young. Hikaru, Hikari, and Akira were there as well, they felt mournful, but the most person who got the impact was Akira.
Akira felt plane turbulence came crashing on him. Laura? That Laura-san? The woman he had the crush on? Did she pass away? He didn't want to trust the joke from Tereza. He almost laughed, yet he stopped it after looking at Tereza somber eyes.
'No way.' Akira muttered unbelievably. He didn't even confess his love to her yet, this already happened. What his big fortune told him at that shrine was a fake!! What kind of 'love' bullsh*t nearby him? When he was already losing that 'love' he wished for!
Fixing his blurry glasses, with his hand holding an umbrella, Akira stared at Laura's tomb grievingly, slowly trying to bury off his crush deep inside.
One by one, people leaving the place. Tereza, the three orphan, and Prof. Matsushima were the only one left, staying, in front of her grave. Tereza glanced at the time on her watch, It was 15:00 PM, she must go back home to see Han and Ringo. She urged others to leave and they nodded from her ordered.
Except for Akira and Prof. Matshushima, they stood firm. Hikaru tapped Akira's shoulder that they needed to go, Akira was holding his tear, and lightly nodded. He covered his face with his palm, he still couldn't accept the fact.
Hikari who saw her older brother crying felt ached, she found out from this, that the girl Akira's like all this time was, in fact, Laura. She didn't know how she felt right now. She felt a mess.
The four people were trying to go, Tereza turned her back and asked Prof. Matshushima, ”Prof. Matshushima, you're not going?”
Without looking at her, he answered, ”I'm just going to stick awhile.” Nodding from his confirmation, she bowed slightly to express thank you, Tereza left him alone and went back to the estate.
After a while, the rain started to vanish. Slight clear sky came to view. His suit was drenched wet from the rain. He closed his umbrella and squatted down in front of her grave.
He said, ”I promised to protect you at that time, but I couldn't. I'm sorry. I know you couldn't love anyone and nagging at me to not fall in love with you, but the truth is I'm not. Why are you so confident? Are you that beautiful?” His voice was quivering, the dried laugh came out from his mouth.
Snorting, he continued, ”Although you didn't believe my strange power at first, you are the first person who didn't treat it weirdly. When I heard you were pregnant and asked me to help you. I was shocked, even shocker was when I accepted it easily. I realized at that time perhaps I care about you, but I'm not sure if this is what you called love. But, one thing I can confirm is I treat you like my own sister. Funny, huh.”
Prof. Matshushima took off his bunny mask, his masculine handsome face was shown on the surface, he placed the mask beside Laura's grave and said, ”From now on, I will...” Before he finished his resolving words, a sudden strong blast intercepted him, it drowned his statement. The burst of air hit his face, fluttering his slightly long hair. He squinted his eyes, looking at the leaves dancing in the wind which slowly vanished.
Literally, vanished. Blinking his eyes, he asked inwardly, 'What was that?'
