86 Diary: Memories From The Youth 4 (1/2)

(Han's POV)

By the time I woke up, I was in a military hospital. My father sat beside me and looked at me sadly. I glanced at him and told, I was fine. I stay on the bed for about a week. In that time, my kidney got replaced and it was my father who donates his to mine.

I could still see his pale face. ”Father, are you alright?” I asked with unconsciously frown face. Nobuo Asuzawa looked at his son focus on his left side waist. He finally understands his question.

”I am. Don't worry. Recover quickly, and later I'll send you back to Japan. You can go back to study normally there. I don't want you to do the military again. I will tell your uncle if you want to study business with him.” he said with concern face. He still spoiled me until now. No wonder, Hanzo really love him and became a spoiled brat.

”I'm fine, I'll try my best to finish my training here, first. Later, when I entered high school, I'll go back, if you are that worry.”

He nodded to my request, stroking my head for a while and left the room.

Shortly after he went outside, two kids came to the room and strode to my bed. They stood there and looked at me. It was the ex-slave two kids. Toshio and Takashi. I stared at them dumbfounded. What are they doing here?

”W-What is it?” I asked curiously with my usual scary expression. Surprisingly they didn't found it terrifying. Usually, small kids were terrified and avoid him if they saw his face. But them? No. It pricks his interest.

Toshio ask me a favor, he said. ”Please take us!”

”...” What do you mean? that was shown on my face.

Takashi elaborate, ”We didn't have anywhere to go. We didn't want to go to kids shelter or orphanage. We just want to live free, but we don't have someone to help us. Our parent abandoned us and we know if we go back to the country, it will be hard for the two of us living alone. So we want you to accept us! We could do anything you want! Servant or anything! We will obey everything you want! But in return, you must guarantee our free life and money!”

”...So, why you pick me from everybody in here?”

”We learn your family background from our trusted source--Han's teammates. You are a rich person and General Nobuo Asuzawa's son! In the future, you'll replace him as the head of the family. So we know you'll be an amazing person! So if we follow you, it will give us a chance in the future!”

I blinked a few times and asked again, ”What do you mean 'chance'?”

”To be rich! And living comfortably in our retired life!” (Toshio and Takashi)

When I heard their reason, I made a dumbfound face again. I began to chuckle and then burst to laugh!

They were really sincere when they told me that their intention was money so that they can be rich! It pricks my interest. I never felt amusing before. It was the first for me to encounter someone who was straightforward!

Well, not straightforward enough like my wife now, though.

Meanwhile, Hanzo was laughing inside too. He thought the two kids here were good friends to be his playmate. I said to him that he needs to wait for a while. He shrugged from my answer.

I stop my laughed and looked at two kids, ”So, you want to work for me?” I asked again if they really meant it.

”Yes!” (Toshio and Takashi)

I nodded and said, ”I can guarantee the money and your freedom, but I couldn't say that you will free all the time when the job start, is that okay for you?”

They were making a helpless face, they already expected that I'll not accept it, yet the next second they realized and open their eyes wide. They asked, ”W-Wait, you mean....you accept us?”

”I explained it to you, didn't I? I couldn't guarantee you will free all the time when the job starts.”

”!!!”

They made a dogeza[1] pose and said, ”Thank you so much!” at the same time.

I looked at them with an amusing face, I said. ”And call me boss from now.”

”Yes, Boss!” (Toshio and Takashi)

”Ah...your name is Toshio...and you... Takashi?”

”Yes, Boss!”

”Then, starting from now, I'll call you To and Ta. It's easy for me to remember. Now, dismissed. I call you later when I wake up from sleep.”

”...” (To)

”...” (Ta)

To? Ta?

What kind of name was that?!

...

In my last military school year, I could be described as a third-grade middle school student, waiting for graduating. I got the best soldier award for my achievement and stand out from my peers. My father proud of me and I couldn't help to smile. I started to enjoy this life.
